THAT is awesome!

I still can't get over how amazing the crowd was and how bad the TBS coverage was at the same time. Really wish they could have broadcasted on ROOT.

Is Greg Brown still alive today?

I don't particularly follow or even like baseball, but well done to the Pirates and I hope their run continues.

70+ million households...pretty standard digital cable channel (for comparison's sake NBCSN is ~77 million), but you still have to have digital cable/satellite to get it, it's not going to be on standard cable.

I know it's a long shot but anyone have a couple of extra tickets for Sunday? Stubhub prices are ridiculous and I don't really want to sit in 300 level considering how far I've travelled for this lol.

This was really strange to listen to on the radio. You could hear the chants, but the roar came out of nowhere and left you wondering what just happened until the announcer explained it. Then, of course, you could hear the crowd from miles away when the next pitch cleared the fence.

For me, all of this is just so surreal. I'm old enough to remember when the Pirates were good, not just with Bonds but also with the teams of the late 70's. To have grown up with that and then to have spent half a lifetime watching **** makes what's happening now . . . I don't even know how to describe it.

Someone said yesterday 'there were tears'. Yes, there were, at the win and at watching two decades of fan frustration released at PNC park by the most incredible crowd that I've ever seen at a baseball game.

Truly awesome! Thanks for the link.

As for the TBS coverage, not sure what happened later in the game as I shut the tv off at 9PM & put on the ESPN radio coverage (I'm an early to bed person), but the parts I saw, they were VERY into the atmosphere & how the fans were into it. I know they showed the Bream fiasco later on, but its to be expected. Unfortunately moments like that never go away. (I say that as a Miami Hurricane fan/alum who has to deal with constant replays of "Hail Flutie" )

But all you fans that were there should be proud.......that was one of the all-time best atmospheres I have ever seen. Go Buccos!

Same here Kirk. I was in high school in the Burgh during the '79 season so I know exactly what you mean. Moved to Miami for college in 1980 & when the Marlins were born, I kind of lost my roots. Went to a couple playoff/WS games in 1997 so I know what that atmosphere is like. But this year, I re-fell in love with the Buccos to the point where I rooted against the Marlins for the 1st time ever when I went to the Friday night Bucs/Marlins game here at Marlins Park. It's just so awesome seeing playoff baseball again being played in Pittsburgh.

Holy ****ing ****. To use a pun, sandwiched within a USAtoday piece singing the praises of the Pirates was this monstrocity. I knew that they put together some scary things that pass for food in the south, but did not know that we decided to compete in the 'everything tastes better fried' contest. This thing looks like it could give you a coronary just looking at it.

PNC Park concessions rolled out two amazing new offerings this season: The “Brunch Burger” — a burger sandwiched by two halves of a doughnut, topped with bacon and a fried egg — and Scotch eggs, hard-boiled eggs wrapped in sausage and deep-fried. The Pirates don’t just win ballgames; they stuff delicious foods into other delicious foods.
