Kesler plus three pucks, maybe.

That was the Oilers mistake not the Habs. Wouldn't deal Galchenyuk straight up for Yakupov let alone add.

I'd like to know more about this "eastern biased" theory of yours.

Oh... That's right. A non-representative selection(ie eastern biased, by numbers and by focus) of the media vote, before the season is complete, for whomever they like, and the top three aggregate vote getters are announced as "finalists".

Perhaps you could shed some light of your understanding of the word "nominee".... Hint 1: there is usually some merit involved, so as to limit and focus voting, hint2:if the competition was "best in a certain period... Ie the regular season... One would typically wait until said period is over before accepting any votes.... That is if objectivity was of any concern.
Where are you getting this idea they vote before the season is over? That's only the Lindsay

Because fans are apart of a team , no fans no team . Pretty simple really .

As an Oiler fan I can understand this . Centre have more value and have more responsibility defensively . I do think Yakupov will become a great score and put up more points then Galchenyuk , but there no way Yakupov will be as good defensively . There is more to hockey then just points so this can be debated at a later time who has more value , a defensive responsible centre or the high scoring winger . I would be happy with either . So no it was not the Oilers mistake , it was a choice that will have high rewards , just like Galchenyuk will have a high reward for the Habs

by contrast would you trade Ovechkin for Toews straight up?

Not a comment on value or if each team would do it but I think Kadri would be ridiculous on the Oiler's second line. He adds the required puck creativity and grit/fire that would really make two very dangerous lines in Edmonton.

I would be willing to throw in a 2nd tier defenseman (Nikitin/Savard or Golo).

But any further than that...forgetaboutit.

There was a pair Belov - Nikitin back to Avangard's years...

Montréal would love to re-unite Yucky and Chucky. I guess we'll have to wait, but what kind of offers would the Oilers consider ?

I'd do it. Not sure Edmonton would. It's fair value wise, but Edmonton will be looking at quality, not quantity.

Meh maybe, but honestly I don't see much of an improvement to our centers.

Uhhhhh, no?

Habs wouldn't trade their top-2 centers along with our next two first round picks for a guy that MIGHT end up scoring 40 goals. This doesn't make sense and isn't fair value for MTL.

Plekanec + Collberg/Lehkonen/2014 1st + McCarron/De La Rose/R.Bourque

for

Yakupov

....would be about as far as I'd go as a Hab. We can't entirely gut the team now AND in the future for one player.

Sutter, Dumoulin and a 1st for Yakupov

Actually, that's not that bad. That's only slightly less than what Staal got, and Yakupov is slightly less valuable than Staal.
