Colorado - Edmonton

O'Reilly, Varlamov

for

Yakupov, Klefbom, Dubnyk

Why Colorado: The team has plenty of centers, but lacks good wingers and defenders, so 2 great young players will be exactly what they need. And Dubnyk can be a solid back-up.

Why Edmonton: Yakupov is great. And Klefbom will be great as well. But the team desperately needs a starting netminder. And O'Reilly will be very helpful as well.

I wouldn't trade O'Reilly alone for all three.

now you are just ridicilous. and I know you will say that O'Reilly great two way player and blaah blaah blaah... but Yakupov was 1st overall pick just little over year ago and is potentially twice the player O'Reilly will ever be. Klefbom is almost a safe bet to become NHL defenceman and would be your best d prospect and Dubnyk is not really that much worse than Varly. sometimes the overvaluing your teams players is just so laughable.

Edmonton should take this. Colorado wouldn't.

So we just use Jiggy as starting goalie? No thanks. Change that and we can talk.

Well basically you are asking for our two best players from opening night. I wonder why that does not go well ..

Value is not that bad if Yak fulfills his potential but we can not afford trading Varlamov right now.
We have searched for a goaltender forever and giving up on him after he just singlehandedly destroyed the Ducks will not happen.
And ROR looks like a complete beast this year.

So I have to respectfully decline.

Oh and Mac is a 2 PPG player right now. So MacKinnon >>> Yakupov right?

No. Want nothing to do with Dubnyk. O'Reilly looks amazing at wing too for the time being.

Not a good trade for EDM.

Both of these teams need blueline help before anything else, making them poor trading partners. Given Edmonton's needs, Kelfbom isn't going anywhere unless a top notch veteran D is coming back.

While he is an upgrade, Varlamov isn't a HUGE upgrade over Dubnyk, both are in the fat middle tier of goaltenders.

RoR would be a nice piece for Edm, but not at the price of a recent #1 overall pick. Look at what Boston got for Seguin. A 70 point two way winger, a top defense prospect, and a couple 7C kind of prospects. For Col to get Yak, they are looking at something along the lines of RoR, Barrie, Siemens and Sgarbossa.

I'd rather have O'Reilly and Varlamov. No disrespect to Yakupov, who I have no doubt will be a 30 goal 60 point player, probably a bit higher. He's a pure talent.

O'Reilly might never become a PPG player but he's the closest thing to a young Patrice Bergeron you're going to find. The guy just oozes hockey IQ and compete. Roy will notice that as a coach and get the guy re-signed long term.

Neutral fan, but making slightly more realistic proposal out of this, Klefbom+ for ROR seems like it would fill big holes for both teams.

i wasn't talking about the proposal but the post where someone said he wouldn't trade O'Reilly for that package. i can't see avs trading Varly but O'Reilly is a posibility.

and i knew someone would say that last part. MacKinnon sure will be a great player no doubt.

I wonder about your priorities, then. That's a hell of a package.

I get not wanting to trade the guy, but... dayum.

And who exactly would Dubnyk back up in Colorado since this trade gives Edmonton Varlamov? Plus Klerbom isn't an NHL defender yet. Colorado has defensive prospects. They need bona fide NHL defenseman. Colorado has the offense and goaltending they need. They just need to re-tool their defense. This trade hurts them more than it helps.

As far as I understand Klefbom is ready to play. It's just Edmonton has NHL defensemen in plenty this year.

With the way ROR has started off the season and his chemistry with Duchene the Avs aren't going to move him for a long time.

Dubnyk can be a solid back-up to a 35 year old in the last year of his deal?

Pass. Brutal for the Avs.

Are you sure ROR knows about this? As far as I remember he's signed for not so long.

Avs have his rights for the next three years. I'm sure they'll think of something in that time.

So...he still hasn't played in the NHL. Nobody knows for sure how good he'll be.
