~~On the bright side most of the players on that team teams played in juniors http://www.ucpioneers.com/roster.aspx?path=mhockey . It also was just one game, and I imagine the college players were more amped up to play an AHL team than the Phantoms were to play a D3 team.~~

I actually think those are the lineups of the first game they lost. I know Raffl played in the 2nd game.

Taylor Leier was named captain today of Portland. Not a major announcement but nice to see him be a leader. Never can have a shortage on leadership.

I really like him. I'm not kidding myself, I know he's not gonna put up a lot of points but he'll pk, provide leadership and score big goals for his team. I see him as a Talbot replacement on the 3rd of 4th line in a few years, he's just the type of player you win with.

Gostisbehere was named to College Hockey News' preseason All-CHN 1st team.

Other notable players on that 1st team:

Johnny Gaudreau (Flames 2011 4th rounder)
Michael Matheson (Panthers 2012 1st rounder)
Jon Gillies (Flames 2012 3rd rounder)

Apparently Akeson-Newbury-McGinn have been the best line in the two preseason games. First game of the season for ADK is this Saturday, the 5th. Roster is due sometime tomorrow.

Stolarz stopped 35 in a 4-2 London win last night. He's 3-0 to start the year.

Tyrell Goulbourne had a two assist night for Kelowna in a 6-3 win.

Good stuff! I'm hoping Stolarz can stay hot and force Team USA to make him starter for the WJC.

I figured the Goulbourne stat line would be the eye opener.

His stat line so far:
4GP 0G 2A 2PTS +3 2PIM

I feel like Laughton was out there for every goal. Looks like he's in a different league than any of those guys.

Many said the same about him after returning from his 5 game NHL stint last season.

Holmgren was pissed that there were no Flyers' prospects in the HF top 50, so he sent Laughton down to tear up the OHL and the WJC in order to make next year's list.

Just from those highlights, Laughton's backhand pass was NHL quality, no doubt about it. He also looks like he has a missile from the point on the PP.
