Was Fletcher ever quoted stating that ? The only place I saw that mentioned it was Russo speculating. (Though I haven't heard any Fletcher interviews lately, so maybe he stated it verbally and I missed it).

Could have easily gotten 6.5 at UFA

Not surprising considering the cost to acquire him. I find it amusing that everyone in here is throwing out numbers like 5.1 and 5.5 though. Do you realize how superior a player Pominville is to Clarkson or Horton? If it's under 6M it's a discount to help his team be competitive.

Me too...As long as they kept it under $6 million/per, I'm ok with it.

5.6M is a beauty of a price tag for Pominville. I don't think people realize how good this guy is all around.

Would you guys rather have Kessel at 8m a year or Pominville at 5.6?

If it's 5.6 x 5 years that is a great deal for the team in both the cap hit and the term.

As long as Brown keeps his elbows away, he should be fine

I think he would have got more as a UFA. Glad we locked him down. Would have prefered 3 or 4 years, but still solid deal.

Send a message via Yahoo to Cirris
Sabres fan here.

While I'm glad that Minnesota tanked hard after the trade last year and finished at the bottom of the playoff pool, A move that was able to get the Sabres Zadorov with the 1st round pick acquired from Minnesota, I wish the Wild and Pommers all the success going forward.

I figure the deal will be right around the 6 million mark maybe a touch more. Anything less would be a steal after the Kessel deal.

Not a big Pominville fan, but that's a fantastic cap hit for Minny

Nah, let's just go with option 1.

Also, these are extensions so technically neither are on that salary until next year. Better question to ask then, if we must.

Congratulations to Minnesota and Pominville. Good player and good for them to get him locked up.

What a nice team the Wild are building here. Great signing, about 1mil below market value.
