I assume this will likely result in Washington sending Connor Carrick to the AHL or back to juniors.

Figured he wouldn't clear. Still fairly young, huge size, former 3rd rounder, cheap contract, etc.

It's still based on last year's standings for now, so WSH had priority anyway.

Lou made a terrible error. Even though he's solid, we should have sent Harrold down. Urbom is ready and needs to be in the NHL

Don't understand this move on the Devils part.

Figured he would get claimed.

I really don't understand the Devils' love for Harrold. I mean he's OK, but to lose Urbom for him who has much more upside???

I think everyone in the NHL knew Lamoriello would try to sneak him down once the season started and if they wanted the player, they just sat back waiting.

Carrick really stood out (and not for good reasons) in that first game.

i think good ol' Lou is losing his magic as a GM. outside the Schneider trade his actions in recent seasons have not been that great.

Epic fail by Lou...unusual for him.

Very smart move by Caps. He is going to be an upgrade over guys like Carrick and Hillen. Urbam is on par with Hillen offensively, but has more size and is better defensively. I wasn't impressed with Carrick so far...Urbom is more NHL ready than him.

Well let's see.

The Devils had 25 players on their roster.
He was able to IR Elias and Tedenby.
He wanted Elias to play tomorrow.
So he had to send someone down?

Pretty simple.. don't think Urbom is that important that Elias should sit just so he can be on the squad. Of the players we would have to send down, he's the one where it'd hurt least to lose and least likely to be claimed.

Curious what people want the Devils to do...they had to waive someone, and Josefson probably would have been claimed as well.

Not a real loss from New Jersey's perspective. Gelinas has leap frogged Urbom, and we have Merrill and Severson in the wings.

You've been here long enough to know that every prospect is gold until proven otherwise. Urbom might be a decent third pairing guy, sucks to lose him, but in the grand scheme of things, it's not a huge loss...

That said, you guys didn't want to waive Harrold instead of exposing Urbom to waivers?
