Since you're on the topic of forwards...Wouldn't hurt if Montreal rid themselves of Desharnais Gionta and Briere to start! In that Order!!!!!!!!!!!God I hate Desharnais

No interest in Morin. Morin was one of Phillys first cuts at camp and has been below average since returning to the Q. Obviously Tinordi wasn't too hot in his first OHL season but Morin already has experience in the league and with the coach so there's no reason he shouldn't be doing well. I was going to cry if we drafted him at 25/would have been livid if we traded up at the draft. I was shocked(pleasantly surprised?) that someone took him just outside the top 10.

Simmonds is who I'd be looking at if we're getting anyone from Philly. The only way I'd trade for Couturier is if we have another deal lined up to trade Plekanec for a ransom(Like to New Jersey for Larsson+). I just don't think Sean is as good as people give him credit as being. The main reason we could use him is we don't have centers that can win faceoffs.

This isn't NHL14... No way the Devils even consider trading us Larsson (And they'd even add something?!) for Plekanec.

As for Morin, he's raw, but I'd LOVE to have him on this team. A package of Morin and Simmonds would be very tempting. I don't see a need in Couturier for the simple fact we already have way too many top 9 centers around. We'd ideally need to get rid of two before even thinking of adding someone else.

And I'd rather go after B. Schenn than Couturier if I had the choice, but they won't separate the Schenn brothers at his point unless we're willing to take both of them I'd bet (not that I'd be against inquiring about Luke as well, I actually kind of like his game).

Moen/White - Couturier - Prust

Gorges - Subban
Markov - Diaz
Tinordi - Bouillon

Budaj
Tokarski

We're way better with that line-up

We don't need more center, we have 7 already, plus Prust can play C.

If we do trade Price, PLEASE sign Bryzgalov. 24CH would become the highest rated show on TV

No.

And if the situation ever arose that we would deal Price, it sure as hell wouldn't be to a team in the conference.

Yes, then send an asset to Anaheim, St Louis or Toronto for a goalie.

26 usually means top tier goaltenders are getting worse, you know, with goalie years peaking below then and not after.

Every goalie seems to peak in their 30's unless you're jose theodore

we need winners on this team.

So Pronger contract + Ray Emery for Carey Price

We can finally have a real defense man that can help PK and we would get another winner of the stanley cup!

It would be a great way to tank, that's for sure.

For those who want to rush Fucale to the NHL...you guys realize Price had a higher pedigree than Fucale, right? Price is far from untouchable, but if we don't at least have league average goaltending we might as well also trade all our vets to rebuild while we are at it?

Hasn't the last decade Flyers and Leafs taught you anything?

Every single exploration I've seen into the actual data shows that performance-wise, they peak around 24-25 like anyone else, with their best years between 22 and 34, and I think the average age of a Vezina-winning goalie, even with Brodeur mussing things up in the recent era, is still well under 30.

Just a couple of dips into the data:
How do goalies age?
Another look at goalie aging.

I don't think so. If Mason came with him, perhaps. That said, I value Price as a top 5 goalie. Given age, talent, play excluding the end of last season, etc. there is only ONE goalie I'd trade him for in the entire league. That would be Jonathan Quick.

I want a replacement goalie, even if subpar, to be part of the deal.

And I'd want Simmons coming our way, at the very least. Coots would be awesome, but only if we trade away DD in exchange. Add in Diaz for Morin.

To those who would trade Price without a good goalie coming back our way... I'm glad you are not the GM of the Montreal Canadiens.

Hell no, Couturier is horrible overrated and a lot worse than Eller, Plekanec and Galchenyuk.

Would you trade Price for a 4th line center a prospect a mid to late 1st? passssss

I think it is assumed that the Habs go out and find another goalie in the market. Hiller, Jake Allen, etc.

but Yeah I am glad too.

I would do it for Simmonds and Morin, tons of goalies are available and we've seen many times teams winning without having a *star* goalie.

Then I'd proceed into checking the availability of John Gibson, Halak, Lehner or Markstrom. Even consider Ryan Miller.

I'm not in favour of trading Price unless it's a big offer, but this train of thought shouldn't apply anymore. The Habs no longer compete with Philly for a playoff spot.

I'd trade DD, Boullion and a 2nd for Coburn instead. You know help out the goalie...
