Gaborik @ the trade deadline

Yeah I know, depends how he plays...

If he's playing well and on pace for another 40 goal season.
What would his value be worth?

He's in his final year so there is also the question of his worth as a rental.
If he sucks and is on pace for 20 goals, or if he gets injured or something.
And he would be a great pickup for a team going to the post season.
It's not like he's ever played poorly in the playoffs
But none of that would ever happen to Gabby right
And a player of his caliber & professionalism would never demand to be traded, right

Anyways, what would his value be worth (draft picks welcomed here @ Camp Kekalainen) if he's back to his old form?

*CBJ needs are RH defense-men, top 6 left wingers* -IMO

I don't see the CBJ wanting to part ways with him just yet considering what they gave up for him...

I'm pretty sure Gaborik is part of Columbus' long term plans.

if he's back to his old form, we won't be dealing him, b/c we're in a spot for the playoffs...i believe that the team is working on an extension with him currently, so this is a pretty moot topic...

We're probably going to need him for the playoffs

And no, we don't need any defensemen. Don't care if our majority are lefties, we've got more than enough D.

I cannot see CBJ parting with Gaborik. Doesn't make any sense whatsoever.

Rangers fan here hoping that Gaborik nets another 40 goals.

His on again off again is scheduled to be on again and it would be nice to see that team and their fans in the Post season.

Assuming of course they do not make it at the expense of the Rangers.

I like Gaborik. Hope he helps that team alot.

If Gabby is on pace for 40 goals he will have a new deal done before the deadline, and he won't be going anywhere.

If Gaborik is healthy I'd expect him to return a 1st at the deadline.

In addition to the 1st rounder he could also possibly return a solid 7.0 to 7.5C type prospect but he also has a NTC clause and if he exercises it like Iginla they might not get that extra piece.

My guess is IF he was traded, CBJ would net a first and a good prospect.

I would love him on the Canucks, but was there any tension between him and Tortorella whule he was on the Rangers?

If he's actually worth much at the deadline we fully intend to keep him, so this isn't exactly going to be a scintillating discussion.

And asking for draft picks or defensemen is absurd. This team has tons of defensemen and is done with adding more prospects for a "rebuild". That phase was completed a little over four months ago.
EDIT: and no that does not mean we're going to start trading away draft picks left and right.

I'd have to think if the Jackets are out of the playoff picture and no progress has been made on extending him that the Jackets would be looking to trade him at the deadline.

That's so far out that we can't get an accurate picture of needs and wants or values.

What Columbus desperately needs at the moment is goal scoring forwards. So basically Gaborik (or what we hope Gaborik is). Anyone want to trade us a top line 30-40 goal scorer for him? Didn't think so.

Basically, you aren't going to get a useful comment from CBJ fans on this thread at this time so why even bother asking? The scenario is either the Jackets are doing well and so they won't let Gaborik go or the Jackets are at the bottom of the standings and we CBJ fans aren't around to comment because we've all just collectively jumped off a bridge.

Yes. Torts hates the type of player Gabby is. As do I.

Yeah that sounds right,

Just asking,
because he might not want to resign in C-Bus?
Or maybe he wants a "Kessel" type of deal?
Maybe he just wants to test the free agent market.

But even if that was the case, bringing in Horton makes up for a large portion of goals...and it would free up 7.5 million in cap space.

Did you read any of Gabby's quotes once he went to Columbus? They more or less hated each other. Gabby had 2 outstanding years under torts, though, including career highs in his first season here.

You hate goal scorers/one of the best snipers in the league? Weird.

Didn't Jarmo speak to Gaborik before even officially trading for him to make sure that he wanted to be in CBJ because of the eventual reality of his 1 year left on his deal? Don't see him being dealt, otherwise what was the point of acquiring him?

Well the premise of the OP seems to be talking about if Columbus isn't doing well and they decide to trade Gaborik. Sure it's not the ideal situation for Columbus or its fans, but it's a very possible situation.

It's too bad Gaborik and Torts don't get along. I'd be willing to offer something like Jensen + cond. 1st on Gaborik re-signing if they could sort out their differences.

I believe I heard Gaborik wants to stay in Columbus because of the media hype he had in NY. Aren't the Jackets in talks with him about contract extension at the moment?

They very well may trade him if that's the case.

If the Canucks are out of the playoff picture, wouldn't they be looking to trade the twins at the deadline as well?

Spooky how similar the situations are, isn't it?

Well the Sedins have played their entire careers in Vancouver and have talked about how they want to stay there.. I dont really think it's spooky similar. That said I really believe Gaborik will re-sign in Columbus
