Something around Beaulieu and Etem? I know Etem isn't a player you'd like to give up, but Beaulieu isn't a player we'd like to give up. I don't know if that would fill a need for you, but I think this would fill a need for us. Although if we did trade Beaulieu, we'd be searching for a new Markov replacement in the coming years.

EDIT: I misunderstood. Maybe he wouldn't fill a need for you right now. I'm not too sure about your blueline, but he could play in a sheltered bottom pairing role this year or next year at the latest. He does have top 4, and first PP upside, with an outside chance at being a top pairing d-man.

Question about the situation in Anaheim. You guys are hurting on defense because of injuries so you need someone short term but you have a good amount of defensive prospects so you are good for the long term. Usually if you are looking for a good young defenseman its more than just a short term injury replacement so in this case you would have been looking for a young defensive second pair guy regardless, if i'm understanding this right.

Needs to be.
Young
Immediately able to help
Second pair or better
Defensive
Reasonable cap hit.

Cant think of anything thats available that fits the description

This sounds like a Niskanen trade. The teams do have history of a defenseman for forward swap.

He really doesn't fit a need for our team though.

Edler for B.Ryan should have happened

What about......

To Anaheim: Frank Corrado and Jordan Schroeder

To Vancouver: Emerson Etem and 4th 2014.

Also David Booth for Bryan Allen makes sense

So basically you want a top 4 D for a less proven top 9 forward.

No it doesn't, it's terrible for Vancouver. Booth at least has the potential to fill a major hole.

I would rather keep Booth.

Something around Tanev & Etem/Palmieri maybe though?

I really like Tanev alot, but with us having Corrado now, thats something I would think about. We could use a young player like one of those guys.

I'd say the bolded are what is actually NEEDED. The price the Ducks will need to pay/be willing to pay would be based on how many of those things are included.

Nope, that won't work either. Corrado isn't an upgrade on what we already have in our system. We're looking for a more established player.

I would say all those things describe Tanev.

He's on our 3rd pair due to depth, but he's capable of playing top 4.

It would depend on just how unreasonable it was, but there's probably some wiggle room if the player is good enough.

That's fair. There are other Anaheim forward prospects worth looking at.

If Ranger and Gardiner performs better after a couple more games under his belt, I could see the Leafs shipping out Gunnarsson to clear up some cap space. The guy is only 26.

It won't be a popular proposal among my fellow Leaf fans, But I'd make Gunnarsson available which would help us out salary cap wise now and down the road, But I would need to get a good young forward(center preferably) back.

Etem and Gibson aren't being traded for a stop gap.

Nisky, stop gap yes. Despres, no. A Despres-Fowler combo would be sweet!
