You can see that Jones has the potential to be quite a player.

That was our best PP. Jones has looked good on the PP.

Said pretty much the same time.

The Wilson/Legwand/Hornqvist line finally has a decent shift in the offensive zone.

A lot of negatives from the Preds tonight especially on special teams. Decent at even strength.

PP needs work but give credit to the Blues PK as well. Bartley with a double minor. Game over. Lets see if the PK can at least stop them from scoring this time.

You won't win many games 0-4 on the PP and 0-2 on the PK. The Blues are being conservative, so we may kill one off here, but when it really counted, the special teams score was 6-0.

Going on the road to St. Louis in the first game was going to be tough regardless. Rinne's rust made it even worse.

Overall I liked the way we played. Some players looked much improved. Neet to improve pp and pk and we will.

I like our speed, I like our physical play. I loved how well we broke out....

I think Barley and Klein struggled.

I didn't notice Hendricks much.

Hutton was impressive. Nice to have a little confidence in our backup.

I really didn't think he was when you compare quality chances. He also was terrible handling the puck. We played a completely different game once Peks got pulled.

I thought Fisher, Bourque, and Smith really stood out as did Clune of all people.

On defense, I actually really liked the Jones-Ekholm pairing.

Seems like basically the difference was:

1. Goaltending.

2a) Special teams

2b) Inability to win faceoffs on special teams (two goals scored against immediately following faceoff losses, including one where Goose lost three faceoffs in a row)

Second. At least we play a team tomorrow night that doesn't know how to score goals.

Nashville and Dallas: Zero points tonight.

I'd add Cullen and Spaling (but had low baseline expectations) as being better than expected

Tied game at ES. Cullen and Nystrom looked good in their roles. Jones was solid for a 19 year old in his first NHL game. The Wilson/Legwand/Hornqvist line was invisible most of the night.

Dominated the dot at ES ... sucked on special teams faceoffs. That went with the sucking on special teams overall. Fisher and Cullen were the two who couldn't win a faceoff all night to save their butts no matter the situation. Something tells me we see Ellis in the lineup tomorrow night against a less physical Avs roster and he is on the point with PP2. Just a guess.

Our backup played well. Stopped 21 of 22 shots he faced. One bright spot tonight.

Frustrating overall but a few points to build upon.

These players stood out to me in a good way:
Hutton
Fisher
Nystrom
Smith
Ekholm
Jones

These in a not so good way:
Rinne (obviously)
Wilson
Hendricks
Gaustad
Weber
Klein
(Legwand narrowly avoids this list with his goal)

Everyone else played as expected or unspectacular for me.

If we were to call the Avalanche anything, it would be unable to play defense i'd imagine.

What did you expect from Gaustad?

Klein was beat on one play ... played fairly solid otherwise.

Much more physical play and a little more hustle.

I have high expectations for Klein. He was off and on all night.
