101st, do you put Ellis in for Bartley? I think you have to keep Ekholm-Jones together. I think those 2 are going to end up being really good together.

Also,
Based off night one, who would you sit for Stalberg and Forsberg?

Just like always ...we have players who players agressively and play capable but nobody can put the puck in the net. Rinne looked awful. Three of the 4 goals were stoppable PP as usual was weak. Pk was surprising weak. The Blues didn't particularly play great but when we looked awful in the first period you knew we don't have the offensive capability to come back the game was basically over at that point. I don't see this team making the playoffs. Unless Rinne gets his game back. There were stretches that we held the puck in the zone but no goals and that's the bottom line.

The old age problem of not having a true FINISHER has still yet to be addressed by the Nashville Predators.

I have high expectations for Klein. He was off and on all night.
He won 67% of his faceoffs and his line generated some of the first sustained pressure of the night ... and that line is the 4th line. He filled his role.

this game should have been much closer. We played as sloppy as sloppy joes made by my mom. I mean, jeez.

Looking forward to many more meeting between these teams!

I'm not speaking about the 4th line. I thought Gaustad the individual really slowed down as the game went on and shied away from contact more than he should.

I wouldn't be surprised to see Klein-Jones and Ellis-Ekholm or Ellis-Ekholm for most of tomorrow night. Ekholm was the low man at ES TOI tonight but had considerable PP time. Considering Ellis's strengths, Ekholm is the likely one to sit while Ellis enjoys the limited ES time coupled with significant time on the PP.

Blues fan stopping by,

That Jones kid is going to be something special, man you guys got lucky with him falling to 4th overall. Kid did not look overwhelmed, smooth skater and a booming shot! Do not look forward to playing against him for the next decade.

Sloppy game overall, don't get to down on Rinne, dude is world class. He had very little chance those goals.

Cheers

Hendricks and Wilson, but just based off night 1 performance, hopefully Wilson redeems himself tomorrow.

I would agree with all of this and add Nystrom to the positives list. He didn't make a lot of big plays on the puck, but he was a disruptive presence in the attacking zone and was constantly moving his feet, which is good. I think we missed that presence when he got put in the box in the third period.

We didn't play that poorly, but we didn't play well enough to deserve points. We made some bad mistakes early (with a little bad luck on Josi's block attempt that led to the first goal), Rinne was atrocious, and our execution on special teams was really awful. We didn't produce a shot on the power play until the third period, and the penalty kill was completely disjointed. We were able to break St. Louis' defense down a few times (which primarily consisted of "constantly clog up the middle of the ice"), including both goals, but they played us tough and made very few mistakes.

This team will get better than what we saw tonight, but we'll probably see a few more games like this, especially early on.

Thought Jones was a bit jerky/halty when making some decisions, however this is assessing him again peers that have several games/seasons under their belts...considering its his first NHL game he looked amazing. There's growth potential but he seems to already contend at such a high level...so stoked to have him.

Mackinnon with two assists, Barkov scores a goal that makes him the youngest ever NHL goal scorer, Jones looked solid. Good signs early from this draft class.

I guess my idea of trading Rinne and pieces for Vanek+Miller doesn't look so bad now??

Braves lose, Preds lose, such is life

It looks meh until both walk this summer. Then it looks awful.

We have an all world goalie locked up through his prime. Let's keep him.

Amen to that NoNecks- son had hockey practice so I got home late- missed the early part of the Preds and Braves games. Was dvr'ing both- well, I had barely had time to get comfortable on the couch before I quickly found out that the Preds were down 3-0 and the Braves 4-0.

The Preds looked great in comparison with the Braves......

A bad night indeed........

A few observations
Young defensive , need to get settled in.....
Fisher was the only forward who consistently played well
This team need to have a passing practice! Way too many in the skates, too far ahead or way behind.
Felt bad for Rinne, but the defence took a while to wake up on 2 of them
Smith got loads of ice time, to end - 1. Looked good at times offensively but in the D zone looks lost most of the time
Legwand Wilson Horqvist did not play much. Guessing Legwand has not played that little in years?
Hoping for more positives tomorrow.
Go Preds

1. If any Pred must score, I prefer it be Fisher. I like the guy.

2. Jones is going to be elite.

After the 2nd period ended, he skated in front of the Blues bench and pointed his stick at one or several players. He was clearly angry about something and tried to start something between periods. It was a bit bizarre. After his run in with Weber a few years ago, I'm concerned about his antics costing the Preds. Being hard to play against is one thing, gooning it up is another.
