Dennis Seidenberg gets extension

So glad we got so much out of Nedved...

Quote:
BOSTON -- The Boston Bruins and defenseman Dennis Seidenberg have agreed on a four-year, $16 million contract extension, the team announced Thursday.

Seidenberg, 32, is in the final year of a four-year, $13 million contract with the Bruins

"It makes me really happy, and on top of it we won the game," Seidenberg said after Boston's 3-1 win against the Lightning in the season opener Thursday night at TD Garden.

The Bruins acquired Seidenberg via trade with the Florida Panthers on March 3, 2010, and he's been a staple on Boston's blue line since his arrival.

"He's been one of our core guys since we got him," Bruins general manager Peter Chiarelli said. "You hear me talk often about character guys; he's definitely that on and off the ice. He plays our style -- heavy game, heavy game that we like. He's been a warrior for us. There's a lot of things that he has that are compatible with the way we want to play. He's 32 but we feel he's in very good condition and takes good care of himself. Frankly, he wanted to stay here so it was easier to get it done for that reason."

Seidenberg was a real late bloomer. Florida traded him to Boston for a second rounder and two nobodies in 2010.

Philly, Phoenix, Carolina and Florida all gave up on him.

4 million for Seidenberg. that is a great deal for them.

hate to see what Holmgren would have given him.

So they didn't have patience like us...go figure.

I remember following him as a Flyers prospect and watching him play for Germany..he had a lot of tools ..skating, hard shot. It's a shame we didn't keep him and a shame we traded him for Nedved of all people....

For all the flack Calgary has received in the off-season, they're sure scoring a lot of goals.

Edit: well, I guess they're giving up a lot, too.

Well if Monahan continues to impress Calgary that will be one less guy ahead of Laughton on Team Canada's depth chart if they do indeed keep him up.

It's nearly impossible to get a good look at what the roster might be from the prospects board. Nearly everyone is just plugging in their guys. You would have to think Laughton, as a nineteen year old, is a near lock for at least a bottom six role.

I meant in an expanded role, Laughton is a near lock for the team but his role could be expanded if a guy like Monahan isn't available.

I thought he bounced off his feet after he hit him.

To me, it looked like he left his feet after contact. It was a good hockey play IMO.

EDIT: Did Downie get called for charging? I was watching the game when it happened but all I remember is Weber and Wilson going to the box for roughing.

I didn't even think it was that huge of a hit, it looks crazy because downie left his feet and was basically horizontal on the follow through, but the actual impact wasn't crazy hard.
