Flames were only in that game because the Caps were asleep for the first 30 minutes of it.

Sharks have been all over Vancouver tonight. Just cycling at will on them.

Vancouver is getting burned by the Sharks' speed. 4-1 now.

Hope the Oilers can do this on Saturday.

Sharks are still a hell of a team. They are going to be very tough for us to beat this season.

If a grizzly bear were to play hockey, it would play like Brent Burns.

I watched the Calgary/Washington game earlier.

Terrible hockey game IMO.

Washington's goaltending and D (Mike Green and Hillen?) are awful.

On the Flames side, it is noteworthy that the 4th line is far better than their "wunderkids". Another poor performance from Baertschi, who screwed up the 2 scoring chances he had, and made a piss poor shot in the shootout. Monahan was totally invisible. Galiardi is a waiver wire plug.

The next development worth watching for will be when Burke shoves Feaster aside and announces to the media he's sending Monahan back to junior. Feaster's only role on the team at this point is to get the coffee and answer questions about the decisions Burke is making.

Unfortunately for Flames fans, the soap opera in the management suite is far more entertaining than the boring product on the ice.

I'll give him some leeway. I'm sure it was a bit of an overwhelming experience.

As for Baertschi, I think Burke put his foot in his mouth calling him out.

People said the same thing last year. They'll have some success of course but they are no real threat for the Stanley Cup. What is impressive though is the amount of undrafted and later round picks they have on their roster, they've done an incredible job of procuring talent at various positions on their roster... something the Oilers can only dream of.

First game of the year, first pro game for Monahan. Might be a bit soon to be crapping on guys.

SJS is such an enigma. Last night they looked unbelievable and have a combination of speed, skill, size, strength and defense that Oiler fans can only dream of, yet they seem to lose focus and fall off at various times. Also, if you're wondering where all the 2nd line centres are, they're all playing wing for the Sharks.

I always look at SJ and wonder what the heck happens if what has happened to them happens to us. They are a perfect example of how it doesn't matter what you do you aren't guaranteed the Stanley Cup.

And predictably this pathetic forum is all over the Avalanche's jock after their blip win. I knew this would happen despite the similarities between our two organizations.

Avs = destined for greatness
Oilers = more failure

"Better coaching and better management. Plus strength at centre."

Seems to be the consensus.

I like their centre depth but where's the evidence that their coaching and management is better? They're an even bigger country club than the Oilers.

The flames play-by-play (Kerr?) has the most irritating "SCORES!" yell ever!

Well Calgary has pts in their 1st 2 games. Sure it's very early but got to give them credit... they are hanging in there and competing. Maybe they won't be the pushover basement team everyone thought they would be this year.

Good.. I'm happy they're getting points. Any less chance of getting a top 3 pick is fine by me.

We went 9-2-1 at the start of the 2011 season. Just saying.

Also didn't help that BOBROVSKY clearly wasn't a Vezina winner. That Hudler goal was reminiscient of the Trouba goal everyone blasted Dubnyk for.

What a comeback by Detroit - I've never seen a team that can inexplicably tie the game in the last minute with such high percentage. Danny Dekeyser 3rd in ESTOI and total TOI amongst Detroit D. Great to see.
