Actually, I'd take Dub over Pleks for salary and age reasons once Galchenyuk and Eller prove they'r ready for no1 and no2 C, respectively. Well, Eller did his part in that department.

But in absolute terms... Plekanec is the better player.

Montreal could use a little youth on the offensive end, and any of those guys could be a nice fit.

With both teams looking to turn a corner, what about something like this:

To MTL:

Hall
2nd

To EDM:
Gionta
Plekanec
1st

As a Habs fan, I would hate to lose Plekanec, he's one of the best two-way players in the game, and Gionta is always a threat, but a youthful centre like Hall would be great. I figure both those guys, Pleks and Gio, could help Edmonton right now, and the 1st could make up for losing Hall.
Hall is worth a lot more than that, sorry bro. It's a big no for Edmonton, forget it.

To get Hall out of Edmonton, we'd have to offer PK or Galchenyuk

What would you be willing to give up for Nino? I think they would be asking for either Pleks, Gallagher or Beaulieu.

I'd like Despres, that would fill out our D nicely.

They should trade him while he has some value left.

Plekanec VS Markov...

Get a 1st rnd pick for Markov.

Keep Pleks (darn right)...he never ever complains even though he doesn't (and never got) the Desharnais treatment.

Subban...Pleks...love 'em.

The Flyers need another PMD, whether Holmgren wants to admit it to himself or not. I threw out a deal involving Diaz for Coburn or Grossman some time ago. Given that we have Murray ( eventually ) and Emelin ( eventually ) with Tinordi looking like he is going to stick, I am not anywhere as interested in such a deal, but if it can be expanded to something more, or Diaz in a package for something else or more, it might be interesting again. I just think Holmgren really needs to do something and the best trade partners are usually the more desperate ones. As with most, I would love to get Simmonds out of the Flyers, that would pretty much set up the wing top guns for us ( Patches, Gallagher, Bourque, Galchenyuk ) for the next number of years.

Leblanc isn't worth Despres, not even close.

They would likely ask for Gallagher and we wouldn't do it.

Nino was just acquired in the offseason for Cal Clutterbuck, I'm not so sure the asking price would be that high. Despres on the other hand..... The Wild seem to be preparing for a Cup run and have lost a lot of prospect depth, perhaps they would be interested in a package around Bourque and prospects?

I haven't been able to figure out any reasonable trades for Despres, this one might not be doable. We might be just as well served trying to sign Girardi, Nikitin, or Ericsson this offseason.

This is actually a good trade offer. The thing with Kopecky is he disappears in the playoffs.

At the deadline you can get Despres for Markov's expiring contract. Pitsburgh would do that.

I bet you he's no Desharnais though..

I think it's an excellent trade for the Habs. You get Briere between Pacioretty and Kopecky and then 2 open spots in 2 years, one to be replaced by Galchenyuk as 1st line center and 7 extra mil for a big winger and/or McCarron.

Thought this might be the thread for this unrelated-related question...

Can someone link me the page of what players in each city pay in taxes? The cities would be on the left and on the right there would be examples on salaries going from 7M to 500K. I can't be the only one that has seen this sort of thing X_X!

Something around Kopecy for DD could be cool... depends on what's being added.

Let's talk about forwards.

*Fast-forwarding to next summer*

Gionta will be FA.

Step 1.
We don't sign him.

Ok everything's fine for now.

Step 2.
Trade Plekanec. (in before "we can't afford to trade Pleky he's the only guy on our team who is reliable defensively blablabla".) Calm down, I'm not done.

Step 3.
Actually get something in return for Plekanecsss. Right winger with size is want I would be looking for. Let's say Teddy Purcell. Even though I am not convinced Tampa would do that trade, let's assume Teddy ****ed Steve Y.'s wife or something.

Ok.

Step 4.
Sign Paul Stastny. Let's say 15 million for 3 years.

For visuals like me, here is what our forward group would look like:
Pacioretty-Stastny-Gallagher
Bourque-Eller-Purcell
Prust-Galchenyuk-Briere
Moen-Bournival-Parros (I guess we re-signed him).

Ok now you're thinking "WHERE IS DAVEY U CANT JUST MAKE HIM DISAPPEARR LIKE U ARE SOME SORT OF WIZARRD ??66??^^"

Actually I can, I'm level 99 magic in Runescape.

But let's assume I'm a n00b and I don't do magic. I would probably bury him in the AHL or just tell Feaster Davey has Jankowski-like potential and we are all set.

Again, I can hear you say (#SchizoProblems) "But Prust should not be on a third line he should be on our fourth!!11!". I kind of agree, but I don't see who could take the 3rd line left wing spot next year. Maybe a kid could surprise at training camp, or just put Bournival there if you wish, but yeah, IDK.

Yeah that's about it, like, comment and subscribe. Thxxx.

Not sure we've improved at all here. In fact, I think you managed to make us worse.

1. Purcell > Gionta
2. Statsny = Plekanec
3. No more DD = more playing time for Galchy and Eller = win
4. Gives opportunity to young guys to step in if needed.
5. Got younger.
6. Cap stays pretty much the same

Desharnais for Kopecky seems fair. Next season:

Pacioretty - Galchenyuk - Briere

Bourque - Plekanec - Kopecky

Prust - Eller - Gallagher

Moen - Bournival - Parros

Gorges - Subban

Beaulieu - Girardi

Tinordi - Emelin
