Tapper re-assigned

Not that this is earth-shattering news since I don't think he was in the Flyers' plans but The Hockey News says that Brad Tapper had his contract re-assigned to the Hannover Scorpions of the Deutsche Liga (Germany). He played for them last year.

How does one have their contract re-assigned? Does this mean that Philly pays his salary (his AHL value, not NHL) for him to play in the DEL? Maybe Hannover pays a portion of it and the Flyers top it off so he still makes the same amount of cash.

I'd guess the Flyers won't pay anything from now, they'll be stuck with a cap hit worth around 115k though.

It probably means he split for Germany, so this move keeps his NHL rights with Philly until his contract is up.

If his contract was re-assigned I'd take it that it continues to run out. Would it not? Not that this is some huge loss of talent.

My guess would be it is more likely that Tapper wanted out because of not getting a shot to play for the Flyers yet, and management said no problem.

You know that Tapper was injured during pre-season right?

Since he was injured then, while he was on the Flyers roster he could't be reassigned until he was healthy again, hence the Flyers are on the hook for a 115k cap hit, cause Tapper wasn't sent down until Nov. 9th.
