I think Poile had a soft spot for Hendricks since we originally drafted him. Stupid but it has to be the only reason we signed and overpaid him. Apparently, he's good in Shootouts too.

Uhhh...maybe...Clune gets in 3 fights with Suter and gets ejected, and Nystrom... I dunno man, I'm trying here.

Would prefer to see Spaling in, so hope things change before tomorrow night.

Yeah, he is. We'd have to actually get to one first to see it though...

Spaling is the odd man out because he's playing in a spot for an offensive winger and he doesn't bring enough offense. Nystrom is the grinder on that line and honestly has played well there. He's the guy that makes that cycle work better.

It looks like Matt Halischuk is going to get into the Jets lineup on Thursday on the 4th line. He had limited pre-season ice time with the team, so what can the Jets fans expect to see from him during the game?

Hustle, grit, physicality. Below average skill but he's always capable of putting one in. Pretty standard depth guy, his time here just ran out. Good luck to him.

To an extent. Depends who he plays with and how many chances he gets but he definitely isn't clueless out there. Believe it or not he actually had 51 points in 136 games in Nashville, largely in the bottom 6. Not terrible production in that role.

Halischuk is pretty solid. Nicknamed "hustlechuck" around these parts

Personally, I would have kept him over Spaling.

Forget Spaling, I'd take Hali over a guy like Hendricks 11/10 times. Not to mention their cap hits.

I was always one of his biggest believers. Him potting 20 eventually would surprise me, but not shock me.

Hal's is a jack of all trades, master of none type of player. He plays a grinding game, but isn't overly big or physical, and isn't fast. His breakout and playmaking skills are poor, but he works hard and isn't afraid to go to the dirty areas. He's a role player who's still trying to figure out his role.

I easily take Spaling over him.

Out of curiosity, why did Nashville decide to buy him out?

Overpaid for what he has done, but he is earning his pay check right now. The intensity he brings is top notch. It is reenergizing Mike Fisher who has always brought his A-game anyways. Loved the penalty shot. More importantly, I love that he is sticking up for his teammates consistently, every shift, and still contributing on the ice.

Now if somebody could teach Cullen how to win a few faceoffs. The team average at the dot is amazing considering how poor Cullen is this season.

Great news. With our D like

Weber-Jones
Josi-Klein
Ekholm-Ellis
Bartley

I think we could look better on D.

Stalberg could provide a needed offensive spark. With our PK looking terrible, maybe Spaling in for Hendricks or Clune?

I'm trying to figure out why Legwand isn't getting any PK time this year. Over two minutes per game short handed in 10-11, to over a minute last season, but barely 20 seconds on the PK per game this year. Yet Cullen is out there for 5x as much ice time while incapable of winning a draw to save his butt.
