After Tim Taylor gets healthy, does he go back to the Falcons, or stay with the Lightning? I like him so far, he seems pretty good. He seems decent in faceoffs, handles the puck nicely, and is a good skater.
Do we send someone (Richardson, ??) down to Springfield?
We'll find out. My guess is Blair goes back to the minors. I read that the team only has $60K of wiggle room under the cap. I don't think that they save any space if they send Richardson down due to his age (I could be wrong). I think he has a 1 year contract and that could make the difference of the cap savings.
The team is forced to make decisions based more on cap space than the talent/players that they might want on the ice each night. I would think that if they get DiMaio moved to the longterm IR, that would free up some of his $450K.
I don't see Taylor going to Springfield at all. Jones will get recalled to Springfield. He's only here for a taste, he's not ready for the whole meal.
Yes, I agree. The guys said, on one of the local broadcasts, that management hopes that Jones will learn a little and take it back to Springfield and know what he has to work on so he can try to make the team next year.
With the $478,000 Tampa Bay saved putting Rob DiMaio on long-term disability, and with Thursday's reassignment of center Blair Jones to AHL Springfield, the Lightning is $911,000 below the $44-million cap.
