As John Sterling says, "boos on the road are like cheers at home."

We root for some hated teams huh?

Fans have the right to boo. It's no big deal.

Boy, golf would be so much more entertaining if guys were booed when they were putting.

It's nothing different...it's common in sports...I can't think of a hockey example right now but when Delgado refused to sign with the Mets he was booed by Met fans when he came in as a Marlin.

That's the problem. It's not just Pittsburgh, and it does bother him.

Look at his production against Pittsburgh and Washington at MSG compared to in Pittsburgh or Washington. A huge difference.

He's an elite player in the biggest league in his sport. He's the focal point of the opposition's defense every night.

What are the fans supposed to do? Cheer for him when he uses his talents to beat their team?

I don't feel bad for Jagr for fans booing him for leaving a franchise because of money or not playing 100% when he was in their city.

I feel bad for guys like Theo Fleury who get heckled for things that happen off the ice that have no impact on the game. Or Malkin when the Isles fans cheered as he lay on the ice for a few seconds.

This may come as a shock to those who get a "fixed" label on a player, based on when he played for their team, and who never let it go. But the reality is, Tom Poti is contributing significantly to a no-name NYI defensive corp that is currently tied for the fewest goals against in the conference. That is not opinion, it's fact.

Now, that does not refute the point that his play with NYR was inconsistent or worse. and we are only 2 months into a long season; things can change. But to suggest that he is a "nobody" this season is to take a narrow/selective view of things.

I did look at his production since being traded from each team:

vs. Pitt 9 gms, 4 G, 6 A = 10 Pts
@ Pitt 10 gms, 7 G, 5 A = 12 Pts

vs. Wash 5 gms, 2 G, 3 A = 5 Pts
@ Wash 4 gms, 2 G, 2 A = 4 Pts

Can't get much more even than that. You would expect a player to do worse on the road, where the opposing team can dictate match-ups more often.

If anything, he may put more pressure on himself against his old teams, but I doubt the booing has much if any affect.

The best way to get Jagr away from his game is relentless shadowing, physical play, and disciplined team defense. New Jersey has done this the best.

If I were Jagr, I'd be more worried about the five guys on the ice putting a target on my head whenever I touch the puck instead of the boos that come up when I touch the puck. And, seriously, if you get paid millions of dollars to compete in a demanding, physical, professional sport, and your worried about the crowd booing you, your a puss-ay.

They booed Pronger last night in Edmonton

Jose Theodore got booed (then cheers because he let in weak goals), when he came to Montreal for the 8-5 shelling.

Heck, in Montreal the fans boo their own players when they play like crap.

I was at the buffalo game, the boos just are for fun really, and because it looks like jagr has a diaper on so that deserves a boo. And to the person that said it's because we are jealous we don't have an elite player, lol id rather have many amazing players to watch that play fast to make us have the funnest team in the league to watch.
