Not surprising. Don't think Lessio and Brown were particularly bad or anything, but something had to happen. Here's hoping the rotation of AHL call-ups is a button Tipp can press this year too.

Strange, considering our bottom lines are not where the problems are.

A bit knee-jerk. But I had expected Brown and Lessio to be top line AHLers anyway.

Should be send Ribeiro and Yandle to Portland? Think they'll clear waivers?

I just don't understand this. 3 game evaluation on two players who may actually be playing full time on the team sooner than later.

I guess putting Yip in makes some sense, as he is more used to the NHL. But both Yip and Kennedy makes no sense. You send one of the kids back down and hope that motivates the other to play their little heart out.
This makes everything else a little more frustrating to me.

I'm sorry but what? These guys aren't the problem. Brown especially has been playing well. I don't understand this move. I think sending them down 3 games in sends the wrong message.

I concur. Strange, knee-jerk and irrational. Who's call is this?

Lessio and Brown were the least of our problems. They play 5min a game each and our young players who aren't expected to carry the burden of the team's success or failure on their backs.

Couldn't we have scratched a veteran to send a message?

Way to develop our young players Tippett/Maloney

BTW, who the hell is Tim Kennedy and what exactly are they expecting him to do?

(Yip, I can figure out)

Exactly. Yip helps us "fit our identity" and can grind. Excellent, show the young guys that this is still valued.

But you can send Brown down for Yip and Lessio will get the point, or vice versa. I'm was not looking forward to playing Detroit after these two losses, but I was at least excited to see Brown and Lessio play again. Now, may have to watch football.

Not surprising. Team is playing like crap, and Bisonette is off suspension.
Theres only so many waiver eligible guys for Maloney/Tippett to play with.

Then bench somebody. Send a message to the vets. Ribeiro and Doan have produced the same amount as Brown and Lessio.

I'm both surprised and impressed by most of the comments here boys!

The problem has not been Brown or Lessio, they are doing as expected. Take the guy who's playing like ABSOLUTE GARBAGE and put him on the third line where (incidentally) he belongs. Ya can't help but love and respect Shan Doan both as a person and a player, but if he's going to fall so EXTREMELY short of what a first line forward should be, put him on the third line and move someone ANYONE up! Not only will this light a much needed fire under our Captn's ars, it will send a message to others who are falling short. After all what we're seeing here is sloppy and lacks play with the added shortcoming of poor positional responsibility.

Call out the obvious (capt'n or not) and see if the others will rise to the occassion.

P.S. Like many of y'all I can see some wisdom in Yip being called up.

Ribero is going to become (if he hasn't already) VERY FRUSTRATED. Let's face it we've all seen this playout time and time again. Look to the common denominator for the answer.

Totally agree the 3 & 4 the line is the problem on this team. Oilers can healthy scratch Smyth then why can't we scratch Doan or Rib. That definitely would send a message. The guys that are earning the BIG $$$$ can't even make a half decent pass let a lone a goal. The one earning <1 m get Sh-- end of the stick when they actually give it every shift. Come Tips your smarter then that!!! Why such a dumb move????!!!!

It would be interesting to hear how Tippett explain this move.

We see it as some form of punishment after the game last night, but the demotion might be for another reason.

For example it could be that Tippett knows that these two young players are not going to get a lot of ice time in the coming games (all road games) so he prefers to send them down and get more experienced guys around.

Plus Biz and Kles could play next game. That's as many as 4 new players in the lineup.

Why would we scapegoat these two? Lessio was benched for the third last night, as far as I could tell. Brown, though, ended up with PP time and looked damn good as a screen in front of Nabakov. The kind of thing we could really use. Plus, he was one of very few with an effective physical game last night that ACTUALLY helped the forecheck. Plenty of guys were hitting, but Brown's board play was actually beneficial.

I don't like this at all. Makes no sense. What the hell are Kennedy and Yip going to do to help get Boedker, Ribeiro, and Doan off their *****? Are Kennedy and Yip going to help our defense stop playing whiskey drunk fourteen year olds?

Maybe Don just wanted to get these kids away from this toxic environment of losing?

I just don't know. Makes no sense.
