Yet, for some reason, you see a guy get a concussion in hockey and he's usually out weeks, months, or even worse, a Crosby or Savard type case. I realize concussions are always different in severity, but it seems that football players usually come back the following week or two (see Eddie Lacy).
probably cause the hockey players get hit on their unprotected chin/face, and more often than not, football players get concussions from "butting heads" type situations, where the helmets probably do take a lot of the blow away. You get nailed in the chin with a hard elbow or shoulder and you're done. Plus they have the cages in football, so they're never getting a shoulder pad into the bare face.

Also, probably the actual collisions in hockey are more violent than football. The footballs players have the mass, but the hockey players have the acceleration, so the force overall is prob greater in hockey. Add that to bare face, and there you go

Everybody's different but I don't see much to laugh about here. If he's out for any length of time I'm not sure how our team is going to hold up. He is our 1 legit 1st line player. There is no real replacement for him on the team or even within the organization. I like Zuccarello but taking away a 6'4 power forward with goal scoring skills and replacing him with a 5'6 (might as well say) midget who's more of a set up guy is one huge step down. Cally don't replace him either. Not sure if AV is going to have to go back more to a defensive oriented system because we don't have enough goal scoring potential. Which is to say if Nash is out for a while I think we're going to be ****ed.

Yes, I obviously means after Hags is off LTIR.

We can't risk Richards getting injured and us being in the same situation as Philly and not able to amnesty due to injury. NMC doesn't matter. Richards sits and gets paid. If he wants to voluntarily tear up his contract now, with our permission, in exchange for a # everybody can live with, he can have his release. If he wants every penny, he sits and watches.

Pyatt buh bye.
Boyle should ONLY be C for FOs, then flip to LW. First good deal he should be moved.

We should seriously consider Stepan + for Seth Jones +. Helps w/logjam and issues at RD.
I'm convinced you're out of your god damned mind.

Another NHL 14 gem from Bernmeister. I'll hand it to you Bern, you are one of the most entertaining posters on this site just for the pure ridiculousness of each and every roster related/trade related post. That and your unconditional love for Kreider always gives me a laugh.

“@stevezipay: No further evaluation for Nash, simply is not ready to play.”

“@PLeonardNYDN: This guarantees that at the least, Rick Nash will miss tonight's game in Anaheim and Saturday's in St. Louis #NYR”

At least we only have 4 games in the next 16 days, time to rest and hopefully get back at it without missing a significant chunk of games.

I have no issues with it.

The NHL has the best policy when it comes to dealing with players that have concussions.

MUCH better than the NFL

Might as well not say Zucc's a "midget" because that's pretty offensive and annoying that just because someone is short they get called a midget. Being 5'8, I've heard crap like this all my life. But I guess everyone's different.

Either way I'm hoping for the best with Nash, like people have said maybe Kreider/Kristo get a call-up and somehow impress. The lines for the Ducks game don't look too hot, but Fast has all the chances in the world right now to make a case for himself.

As far as return timetables, I have no problem keeping a player out an extra couple weeks just to make sure things are relatively okay. In the NHL they have more of that luxury with an 82-game schedule, but the NFL's schedule is less forgiving. Plus it feels like there's exponentially more machismo going on in football than in hockey and they'd rather not hurt their pride at the cost of severe long-term damage.

Let's also not forget that there are is a lot more time between games for football. A guy misses one game with a concussion and he's out for 14 days.

Important part of our season?

NO divisional games until wednesday....

Not that i ever want a player injured, but if he's going to be out for a couple weeks, now is the time.

What does slats have to do with it also.

would love to see someone step up and make it hard to send them down.

injuries are more than opportunities for excuses, they are chances for someone to earn a spot.

kristo, kreider miller, lindberg and hrivik all need a chance to show what they have

If I were elbowed in the face/jaw I'd be experiencing headaches (also considering that the offending player left his feet to deliver the illegal hit). Could be nothing more then a precaution for a pretty tricky injury.

Now, of course, it could be more than that.

I thought it wasnt good to fly with a concussion... If they arent sending him back for testing wouldnt it have been abetter idea to have him stay in California for a couple days before going home? I could be wrong. I guess youll have to fly sooner or later.

Jesus christ the luck we have, its 3 games into the ****ing season

I'm taking it to mean that he was in good enough condition to fly home, which is a positive sign.
