Gagne

I am not questioning his character. If he had a gig, good for him for putting his work before JrB hockey...all players should put WORK and SCHOOL ahead of JrB hockey and coaches should understand this.

In terms of the other part where Renfrew management check with Gagne first before giving another goalie a start....this is not hearsay or assumption...this is first hand knowledge.

If you check back in previous posts when people were jumping on Renfrew, I said they would repeat as Valley Champs BUT they need to deal with some of their issues...better sooner than later...and OLD SCHOOL, both of us, and the several others that post to this blog understand that it is just JrB hockey so relax.

Tikis vs. Aeros

Very good game last night in Athens between the Aeros and the Tikis. Back and forth action all game long. Nice to see the ref let the boy's play. Only two minors the whole game. Standings are tightening up in the Rideau division.

I agree the game had good flow and the officiating was the best I have seen all season. I hope these two meet in the playoffs again always entertaining games.

Questions here as I haven't gotten out to any RSL Conference reg. season games:

i) Are the Prescott Flyers for real?
ii) What's wrong with the Westport Rideaus?
iii) Why has Akwesasne only played three games?
iv) Can Alexandria make a playoff push this year?

Thoughts, opinions?

The Prescott Flyers are a much better team this year. They seem to have better goaltending this year and they have a good nucleus of players up front. I think they should be in a good place come the end of the regular season.

Westport seems to be struggling with leadership on the ice. They really don't have anyone that has stepped up to lead the team on the ice. In past years there was always 3or4 players on the team that showed leadership that the rest of the team fed on. I think they will be fine once they get a few more wins under their belt and start to play with confidence.

I don't know what's going on in the St. Lawrence division. Maybe someone else can chime in about it.

These are just my opinions.....

1) Prescott is a hard working team that never quits. i would say they are for real.
2) I agree with 2pp leadership is an issue also other than Merkely and #28 no real offensive threats.
3) Was wondering that myself
4) Looks like they are competitive so couldn't see why not.

6 Oct 2013 The Stittsville Royals trade the playing rights of Brayden St. Germain to the Refrew Timberwolves for a PDF and Brayden's playing rights revert back to Stittsville at the end of the 2013-14 season.

Looks like this could be a 3 team race between Cassleman,Winchester and Charlan so far in this early season and from the scores each team needs that over agers D to settle the Defense down on each one of these teams.

Winchester seems to be a lot more consistent and disciplined this season, I'd say them and Casselman could be a realistic St. Lawrence Div. final.

Anyone with any knowledge on Akwesasne and why they've only played 3 games?

I have been thinking the same thing but wonder if it has to do with the Lacrosse and the season running late there.

Lax season has been over since mid August for the Junior's and the minors. The ice might not have gone in right away as maintenance might have been required on the Turtle dome. That's the only conclusion I can think of.

If this is the case who's the 16 year old cause Perth made a trade to get the card.
Did he play those 2 games only?

" 9 Oct 2013 The Prescott Flyers send a 16 yr old card for 2013-14 and a 16 yr old card for 2014-15 to the Perth Blue Wings. If cards are not able to be moved next year then Prescott owes the Perth Blue Wings the going rate for the card. The Perth Blue Wings send the playing rights of Alex MacLean to the Gananoque Islanders. The Gananoque Islanders send the playing rights of Craig Cross to Perth Blue Wings and send the playing rights of Andrew Dekroon to Prescott Flyers plus future considerations. "

He played in all of their games up until last Friday, then he sat out the 2 games last weekend.
They lost the points from the games they won that he played in.
As noted above they now have acquired a card to put him back in the lineup.

Why didn't the Manager know this that they didn't have a 16 old card for him. It's disappointing to see the team work so hard for those 2 wins to be forfeited, it may come down to not making the playoff having to forfeit 2 games and if the 16 year old made any impact on the those games.

Pretty lucky break for Clarence and Stittsville. Two free points ... A gift from the hockey gods!!!

Perth

C'mon, this was a stupid move by Perth management. Does anyone out there really think they did not know what they were doing ? The players should be pissed. Again, Perth is making the league look like a joke. Maybe they should take a full page out in the Toronto Sun to apologize to their fans and players.

They have a very late ice start up every year, due to other comittments (Senior and old Sticks Lax this year)
After Lax is complete they have their traditional POW WOW event, that is held at the arena, this can be up to a two week event.

I was listening to the Lake 88.1 Junior Hockey talk, great show, however when Mike McLean was talking he said that there was no evidence or paperwork to support Stittsville's claim of a trade made last year. Talking to Stittsville goalie coach on weekend he said that emails were submitted to the league that showed the "future" part of the deal and that they only did the protest because Perth had protested a comment made by the Stittsville coach which was demanding that he be suspended by it. I am not sure why Mike would say that they do not play the "politics" game when he clearly does. (Does anyone know what comments were made by the Stittsville coach Hammish Fraser that got him in trouble?)
Why would a team not try and get all the points they can. Not only does Stittsville gain one point which isn't a lot really, more importantly Perth loses points. Its a lot harder to chase everyone from the bottom than it is to stay at the top. Also told that Perth knew about the trade way back in Aug/early Sept yet claim they were unaware. Questions on validity of Perth comments on public radio....
