41.5 Game Misconduct Penalty - When a major penalty is imposed under this rule for a foul resulting in an injury to the face or head of an opponent, a game misconduct shall be imposed.
Fisher isn't a dirty player by any stretch, but given that Franson had a cut to the face, it was pretty much automatic. Again, I still respect Fisher, and always will for something he did with one terminally ill Ottawa fan, but he just got a bit hasty. It happens.
Don't listen to some of my fellow homers calling Fisher a dirty piece of ****. Just emotional reactions.
Not a chance that was intentional. Play probably would have ended up fine had it been anywhere but the stanchion, which makes it a tough call to stomach, but completely understand why they did.
I don't think so myself to be honest. I don't like those kind of hits by chance especially with an injury like that but I also see why the leafs got the penalty as well. It's happened before to us too when it was fine but as soon as blood drawn refs change their tune.
