They're both playing the same amount of time right now, and it's less time than they both deserve. Looking forward to a good season from both of them, but not looking forward to the bickering from each fan base.

Yakupov is on a real 3rd line playing with Arcobello (a career AHLer) and Smyth (who is by far the worst player in the league). If Yak was playing with Eller and Gallagher or at least with decent players it would be a different story.

Eller and Gallagher were trash before last season's debut. Maybe he had a part in it....

Well maybe Hemsky can accumulate some trade value and get dealt for a nice package before the deadline. Re-signing him given his long line of injuries at 30+ and a bunch of other similar, skilled young wingers on the roster would be really stupid. He's clearly not part of the team's future.

One was a rookie and the other came off a 16 goal season, wouldn't call that trash. Ah yes, I'm sure Galchenyuk made them better and that was why Gallagher was a calder finalist and not Galchenyuk himself, good point.

Even if he did make them better, they both established themselves last season and are 2nd line players. Meanwhile Yak is playing with AHLers and worse.

I'd take galchenyuk but the two games this season aren't the reason at all. these two players are very very close and saying other wise is dumb. Its mostly preference and for montreal I'd rather have a two way centre than a sniping winger because we already have a better one in gionta

Galchenyuk has now 16 pts in his last 15 regular seasons games. Not bad for a guy that average about 12-13 minutes a game (a bit more this season because his line is playing great). And out of his 16 pts, 15 are on even strength.

One player is 5 ft 11 -185 lb one dimensional winger who should pot you 40 goals and 70-80 pts while the other player is a 6 ft 1 -200 lb stud center who should pot you 30 goals and 70-80 pts. Not really a hard choice now boys.

If he's a stud center Nail is stud goal scorer.

Nail is a stud goal scorer. Its pretty obvious when he said he expects 40 goals from him

Tonight's the night! The former teammates will be playing against each other in Edmonton!

Prediction:
Galchenyuk 2 assists
Yakupov 1 goal

Montreal wins in shootout.

It's pretty clear who the better player is.

Did Yakupov even play tonight? LOL.

Will be interesting to see Oilers fans use the ''Yak is on the 3rd line'' excuse when Galchenyuk was on it all of last season and still produced at a solid rate.

Eakins making Galchenyuk look like an all star by feeding him shifts against Brown, Acton, and Gazdic.

Looks like the responses so far
Galchenyuk looked great tonight, Yakupov looked ****ing awful, probably his worst game in the NHL so far. Can't wait to hear Habs fans talk about this game for the next year when the Yakupov/Galchenyuk discussion comes up.

Yikes, I've watched Yak play every game of his NHL career so far and that was easily the worst game he's played.
