Anyone else bothered by the fact it took 4 minutes for us to score on an empty net? That's pretty embarassing.

Sometimes you just have to test things, which may involve seeing how everyone plays with different linemates in actual game situations. It's games against teams like the Oilers where you might get the luxury of taking such risks.

Very weird line-up tonight.
Apparently, a lot of NHL scouts again tonight.
Related?

I believe that we should continue the Eller and Pacioretty experiment. Obviously, they aren't going to mesh right away, but with the way they dominated O-zone time despite being "thrown together cold", they could make a very good "strength" line that can win a ton off battles on the boards. Oh and of course, get a bunch of goals in the process.

It took a few shifts but late in the game Patches-Eller-Briere really started to gel, there could be something there. While initially confused, Im impressed with Therrien tonight, he coached a good game.

Honestly he got the best possible out of the defense that we have to dress and the three new lines after some bumps figured each other out. I woudl go again with them in Vancouver.

Pacioretty-Eller-Briere
Galchenyuk-Plekanec-Gallagher
Bourque-Desharnais-Gionta
Moen-Bournival-Prust

Markov-Subban
Gorges-Diaz
Tinordi-Beaulieu - would be my only change

Price

Nah, not at all. I'd rather wait 4 minutes to score than seeing them score in 1.

I do feel sorry for Bourque though.

58% FO.

He's definitely not rebounding how I hoped he would, but he wasn't "bad" tonight. Just mediocre. Obviously, that's not good enough though. But there were a few positives to his game tonight, unlike the first 2 1/2 games.
Agree mediocre but when you are 5'2" and have 0 points in 4 games you are ****ing useless.

Gotta give some time and at least one pratice session for the new combinations to get some chemistry;
-however, individually, DD is useless. Can't blame on chemistry if the dude brings nothing
-Eller with Patch and Briere has interresting potential since Eller is a puck possession monster which would allow Briere and Patch to play more often in the O-Zone and consequently be more dangerous (should there be some chemistry)
-Galchenyuk needs to play center

I don't know. Eller was good but not like when he was with Gallys. I kinda agree that we should at least leave them again for the next game. Wait and see.

His speed is second to none on this team. He might not do as good as Eller, but if MT wants to split the lineup up somewhat, Bournival would look good there. Defensively responsible, fast as hell, can keep up with them, and he is pretty smart. Lots of tenacity too.

Plekanec is awesome and I love him, but he doesn't have the jump in his step to keep up with them, I don't think.
That is a heck of an idea!!!

Now your getting the right idea MT..

Eller - 20:01 TOI
DD - 14:20 TOI
Boullion - 12:09 TOI
Subban - Team high 25:34 TOI
Galchenyuk and Gally with less than 14 minutes though

The flip side is that Edmonton didn't get many shots (or quality chances) for all that time either.

How come there are more habs fans in Edmonton and a lot in Calgary too. This is embarrassing for the Oilers.

Personally, I'm suspicious of the "Let's play BEAULIEU!" thing. Especially with Gorges playing. Maybe they were showcasing him, if so, he did good.

  • Timmins hit the m****ing jackpot with Galchenyuk. He's our leading scorer if I'm not mistaken and not even playing center... I wish that last part would change but I am so glad of his success. Franchise player.
  • Markov the general is back, these two games he was extremely steady defensively and created many scoring chances.
  • Subban at .ppg and dominating once again. Has been the best player so far this year as expected, despite the few blunders here and there. It's scary to think that he still hasn't hit his prime.
  • Excellent line handling by Therrien, he basically gave DD and Briere a chance against Calgary and seeing how they didn't perform they were demoted. Candy was handed out to them in the last 4 minutes of the game for the shorty (excluding MaxPac) and a very nice gesture by Briere who could have scored his first goal as a Hab but decided an empty netter wouldn't be the most glorious way of doing it.
  • Eller was imposing physically this game, some will say he was dirty, but then I say he was being competitive and using his size to his advantage. I did not like the Hall hit, and was really hoping he was okay, but I dont think Eller would hit him that hard to begin with there was at least 15% embellishment there.
  • In case Edmonton is willing to trade Yakupov, we should offer them a premium. I still believe in the kid (DUHHHHHH).
  • Yea that wil never happen. What might though is Galchenyuk being identified as the best forward on this team as soon as this season. I am counting on it.

Price is NOT playing badly enough to actually consider handing the crease over to Budaj full time, lol.

Wow Great game, what a bounce back performance from last night. I actually liked the line shuffling Therrien did, and i could definitely see bournival working is way up past DD in depth chart. Lets just hope its sooner then later lol.

Side note thought our D played really well, Markov-Subban pairing was top class.

I can agree with this.

However, now that he's actually being put back down the line-up, maybe he can be that 3rd line specialist even some of the haters thought he could be.

He's been overused for too long now. I know that I saw him as more than he realistically can be (I got too excited when he made it cause I was pushing for the kid from his ECHL days), but maybe he can develop back into that 3rd line kind of player that can produce a solid amount of points.

Guess we'll see. He's got a handful of games to prove that he can be that guy.

What's embarrassing is that they keep finishing at the bottom of the league year after year, and if they keep it up, they might not have any fans at all.
