Who here would trade Tinodi or Beaulieu ++ for one of Edmonton's young guns i.e. Yakopov?

They have a glut of offence but NOO defense to speak of and we need a pure scorer up front.

Price would be steep but reuniting Galchenyuk and Yakopov and throwing in a Gallagher would be a fatal line for years to come. I think those two have a lot of potential but I'd pull the trigger on a trade like that in a second.

Look at Kane and Kostitsyn. Kosti was a beast in the juniors but after both getting drafted he disappeared.
When SK got ice time in Nashville, he was one of their top scorers, how is that disappearing?

Montreal doesn't have anyone they'd be willing to trade that could get Yakupov in return.

Unless Edmonton wants quantity there's a slim to zero chance he'll dawn the CH anytime in this decade.

7 points in 14 games in the KHL.

Edit: His brother has 9 points in 12 games.

He lost taht top ice time mostly due to inconsistent effort and work ethic.

I dunno about that. They seem like teams that are well matched to make a trade. One team loaded with forwards and the other with defense. I'm sure if they wanted to make a deal, one could be had.

Schultz Smid Petry Belov are a pretty good young core to start with, then they have Nurse Klefblom Musil and Marincin on the way. I think their future on defense is very bright.

Where Edmonton is weak is they have few quality vets.

Only defense I can see the Oilers having an interest in for Yakupov is one of Subban, Tinordi or Beaulieu

Subban we can all agree he isn't going anywhere

Tinordi is what we have been looking for forever, he's a gem to us, not going anywhere either

Beaulieu maybe if we do +, or even ++

Sometime the less skilled guy is not always the worst player.

DD is not even that skilled to begin with.

Edm would have to add to get Subban. Yak wouldn't be enough alone to get him.

You know he is the reigning best dman in the league.

Yak has sky high potential , but I don't think he fits MB's character bill. And maybe with good reason.

I think the ideal trading partner is Dallas. Other conference, struggling offensively but stingy defensively. Perhaps trading Desharnais for a Dallas defenceman. I don't know which D, but it might be a deal that helps both teams. Not to mention Gainey is there, and he might find a right fit for Desharnais.

They might be full time NHLers but that doesn't mean they will be better than Myers. I personally think Myers would bounce back with us so I don't mind trading a Beaulieu for him. At the end of the day you're trading potential of developing for potential of rebounding so it comes down to which you think is more likely.

This is not necessarily a bad thing. If DD gets traded for a shutdown center you can't say "Oh he doesn't put up as many points therefore we are worse". A shutdown guy would take away defensive responsibilities from Plekanec/Eller and open them up for more offence. Having players that are better suited to their roles helps even if they are less skilled.

I don't think any of those guys other than Schultz and Nurse has the same tools as guys like Beaulieu or Tinordi. Also the guys on that list are still not as close to NHL ready as the aformentioned Tins and Beaulieu.

That being said, I used them as they're very good trade chips but outside of PK, there's no one on our D I wouldn't trade for one of their top pick kids, Markov included. Same for our forwards outside of Patches, Gally's and Eller I'd be willing to trade anyone.

Read above response and initial post. Outside of PK, anyone goes on defense IMO.

Robidas? He's a better option than Bouillon IMO. Kind of a crappy return but I know Robidas wants to play here and he does have an expiring contract.

Pacioretty-Eller-Briere
Galchenyuk-Plekanec-Gallagher
Bourque-Bournival-Gionta
Moen-White-Prust

Markov-Subban
Gorges-Diaz
Murray-Robidas
(Bouillon, Drewiskie)

Or what about Vernon Fiddler for Desharnais? We could use a defensive/faceoff guy.

I'd rather have Robidas than Bouillon and I'd rather have Rob over DD too. Win-win.

DD is unmovable at this point. That contract is poison.

Robidas may be the most attainable but I'd set my eyes on Daley. And keep in mind that the way Dallas has been shaping up, their focus is strong on being bigger and younger. Look at their roster players and recent drafted players (Ritchie, Nichushkin, Chiasson, Stransky, Faksa, Oleksiak, etc.) Desharnais is unlikely to be a convincing target.

I wonder if the Rangers continue to struggle, Dan Girardi might be had for the right deal. Perhaps something around Josh Gorges?

He would be a great partner for Subban and Markov and Emelin can go back together till Tinordi is ready to play with Emelin and Markov can be a PP specialist.

I still don't know why we didn't signed lapierre. I loved him when he was a hab, skates, plays well on the pk, can score, can hit. Would have been perfect for our 4th line with Prust, Moen, Parros.

Don't forget the Erik Cole connection...

As much as I think DD is untradeable unless you are taking back similar term/money for a player who is less than desirable (to put it nicely), the Eric Cole connection may be a selling point to Dallas if they are looking for help scoring. Robidas as mentioned here already would be an upgrade over Diaz on the 2nd pairing, and could be a good fit with Gorges or Markov.
