Very excited to see him on Saturday. Should get a lot of room to do as he pleases against the Oils.

Amazing player. Thank you Ron Wilson...your parting gift is a beauty.

That is all.

Rotten Ronnie doesn't do parting gifts...

Lucky to have him.

Burke tells Bettman "We had him at #1" It's early and it's only 3 games but maybe he was right or certainly in the ballpark with that bold statement.

7:21 of video.

I will also say this, it's gaudy how well Rielly is able to carry the puck make a play and get back so quickly. He is going to be elite IMO and a first pairing D-man down the road. Just has too much poise, too much skill, and his hockey IQ is sky high

I would definitely take him over Yakupov.. Just maybe not ahead of Trouba or Galchenyuk,

Ok and..they knew they liked Gally, they had their eyes on Rielly the whole time. Morrison even says that they thought Montreal had a chance of taking Rielly and thats where the discussion of moving one spot up was being made. They made the right choice in not giving up an asset just so they could move up a spot. Both teams got their man.

its funny how many people look at the boxscore of this kid and judge that way. kid has hands, elite skating ability, elite vision.... kid will be a star, wish other fans could just enjoy watching his skill instead of saying "he wont be that good cause i said so".

havn't seen a prospect like this in a very very very long time.

I originally thought he would get sent back after his 9 games. There is no way they can send him down now.

Kid just comes across as a real likeable guy.

Love his conversation with Koekkok, when Slater's says: "I didnt expect you to go that high", and Morgan was straight up like, "Neither did I."

Honestly, I see him as a bit of an opposite of Kadri who wants the be the man, the go to guy, whereas Morgan is more humbler, definitely wanting to contribute, but also simply wanting to help the team. Both guys use their characters to motivate themselves

Watching these highlights, It's amazing we had Leafs fans in this thread just yesterday comparing Rielly's skating to Miley Cirus.

Sometimes our own fans surprise even me.

I caught that too, he's good friends with Slater.

Bernier might just be the real deal. Keeps the team in it until they get going in second half of the game. Rielly looking good too. Let's hope Franson is ok.

Morgan Rielly looks ready.

as a neutral fan watching this game to see Jones, i must say between Reilly and Jones, Jones was the one that Stood out for me. Jones is going to be special, and i think he is already on par with weber.

Reilly is very small, a good skater and has good hands. He is not as good of a skater as letang or Karlsson nor does he have the hands those guys possess. However he seems to play more within himself and rarely does something out of charachter. Reilley is a good defender and I could see him being a Kimmo Timmonen type defender if he gets a little bit bigger.

i agree with you assessment but am confused about the multiple comments about him being small? he's not small.

he was drafted at 6'0 200 lbs and has put on size since then.

He looks NHL ready. Also maybe he means small relative to other defencemen? It's kind of crazy it seems like most defencemen these days are huge.

As soon as i read "very small" i knew how wrong this post would be.

If 211lbs is very small to you, you are either a giant or a carnivorpus barbarian
