Did you guys see who is playing goal for Aiden Muir's USHL hockey team?

http://www.hockeydb.com/ihdb/stats/l...035792014.html

Why would Samu come over now at 20 years old to play USHL?

When we grabbed Chase in the 7th round I was very excited. Didn't realize he was still on the board, thought he went off in the 3rd or 4th. Could be a steal of a pick.

For anybody that has seen chase play, is his skating as bad as advertised? Or why did he fall all the way to the 7th round?

You have to think if he continues producing, he'll get consideration for Canada come Christmas, he can keep up with the best players and brings a chippy physical element that Canada needs.
To put this in perspective, Chase is T-6 for goalscoring for Canadian eligible players, behind Mantha (near a lock), Gregoire, Gemel Smith, Holmberg, Pancel and tied with Baptiste. That's pretty darn good. It would be something if he could actually make Team Canada, but we're getting ahead of ourselves. I'd like to see this kid get some apples!

I think it's blown way out of proportion. Here's some info from predraft scouting reports.

Quote:
His skating earns divided opinions, with one scout calling it a positive, and another saying his first steps can be a tad sluggish. - Corey Pronman
Quote:
Wide skating stance helps him maintain balance and uses edges well to maximize glide. - Red Line Report

Hes a smooth skater but takes a bit of time to get up to top speed.

Nice! I was really impressed with him last year, but didn't realize he was doing so well this season

I think he'd be in tough to make Team Canada.

With so many top-end forwards in this draft, I think we could end up with a young team.

Guys like Reinhart, Dal Colle, McCann and Bennett are ripping it up right now and all play mature games too.

But TC does like to bring some grit and grind.

Good point. That type of player is looking pretty sparse among 18/19 year olds for this year's WJC though. I wonder if a guy like Moroz gets an invite.

Would be kind of cool to see Moroz and Chase causing some havoc on the 4th line.

Brent Sutter is coaching again this year too so you know he'll be quite familiar with Chase being that he plays for a division rival.

You asked me today for an update on @MarcoRoy11. I'm told he broke his wrist during Oilers camp, he's a couple of weeks away.@Lowetide_

I don't think anyone wants to hear how Rieder did his first game in the AHL.

Because he's an ex-Oiler prospect, that some people are still interested in him as a player. There is no relevant topic for this sort of situation, so I put it here.

Really guys, just get over it and move on.

Otherwise mark my post if you don't think it belongs in here.

Oh look. Kessy puts up a big goose-egg in 2 AHL games.

Rieder doing what he's done at every level of hockey he's ever played. Looked like an offensive star.

He will be an NHL player in two years. What a pathetic trade. This team is equally as bad off the ice as it is on the ice.

He wasn't going to sign with the team, and intended to re-enter the draft. I don't want to go digging up articles, but I thought it was pretty well understood.

It sucks. He was maybe my favorite prospect other than the blue-chippers. And I do NOT like the acquisition of Kale Kessy. But lets not overstate things here, at least we got something back.

That'd be the first I'm hearing about it.

There were no articles saying Rieder was going back into the draft. At least none that I have seen. I actually feel somewhat responsible for this in a way since I speculated this might be the case after hearing comments on the Ranger broadcast the day he was traded. The Ranger broadcasters were saying how happy his agent seemed to be with the trade and they speculated that the Rieder camp did not see much of a future with the Oilers given the Oilers depth up front. Things kind of took off from there.

To be honest I still think it was a legitimate possibility given the timing of the deal and the Oilers roster at the time. But I have never seen any official confirmation that this would be the case.

As I said I followed almost every game Rieder played after being drafted, and while I was disappointed I understand the trade. Clearly Rieder has the higher upside offensively but Kessy is much more the type of player that the Oilers would need to complement their current core. In that regard it was a potentially justifiable gamble, even if it was a gamble.

and this is why its better to keep Reider talk out of this thread.
Its a prospects stats thread not "Reider rocks\ Kessy sucks \ Oilers suck at trading" thread.
