Jonas Brodin

Brodin has another assist tonight, with the 3rd period yet to come... that is 4pts in 5 games (2g 2a)... Dare we say the offense is coming into his game now?

Hey, nothing wrong with pointing out a young player developing his game beyond what some people were pigeon holing his role to.

All offseason people here were saying how he'll likely never add offense. Just wanted to point out that it looks like he's trying to do that very thing that many said he couldn't, thus far with success.

If you don't have something substantial to say on the topic, keep moving. Infractions will be forthcoming for those who can't help themselves.

It's awesome to see him develop an offensive game to accompany his excellent defensive skills.

I had my doubts when some Wild fans predicted 40 points from him this year, but I'm actually starting believe it.

At this point, we'd probably say it's only been 5 games. Don't get me wrong, it's not insignificant, but you can't exactly extrapolate a full season out of it. Let's see how it looks 20 or 30 games from now.

Before you say "I told you so" give him time to tell us.

I'll just say he has looked very good so far. Definitely a lot more willing to jump into the play and his reads on when to do it have been spot on. He still is deferring to Suter a lot on the breakout pass but why wouldn't you when Ryan is one of the best in the game at that? It's still early in the season but he seems to be developing and adapting his skills to the NHL very well.

Doesn't really matter how much he scores. He's still dynamite defensively.

From what I've seen he's gonna put up a fair amount of points just by logging minutes and making good reads. But more in the 30-35 point range. Ultimately, he's not in the role to score in bunches right now -- Suter is. At least not in the games I've watched, where Suter got all the heavy offensive minutes.

As long as they keep him on the #2 PP, which there is absolutely no reason they shouldn't, I don't see his offense dropping too dramatically. Obviously not going to keep .8 per game going, but 30-40 points would not be a total surprise.

5 on 5 they are a pair, so they're about even there, but Suter gets 1st PP unit time, Brodin 2nd PP unit time. Both being left shots, they are used in the same position on the PP thus split the minutes between the two units.

Both PP units have been pretty effective for the Wild this season thus far.

Well that was about as perfectly stated as it gets. 5 games is only 5 games.

That said, Brodin has been very very good.

It was(or will be) only a matter of time.

Too much hockey sense and mobility for it not to.

Only the most poised rookie defenseman since Doughty, averaged 23+ minutes on the top pairing last year and should have won the Calder.

Thread's a bit premature but he certainly looks good. Picked him up in my fantasy pool too. Originally had Leddy, dropped him, picked up Krug, dropped him, now Brodin

Woah, he'll be better than Erik Karlsson?

Premature if you think I'm trying to say he's proven he's there now offensively... yes... not premature if I'm saying he's working on it and thus far is having success with it.

He is trying to develop his offensive game, and thus far he is showing progress in that area.

Last season you could see he had the sense and the skill for it, but he tended to overly differ to the vets on the ice. This year you can see he is being much more assertive with his own offensive game.

Was only commenting on his rookie season, not projecting. He was the most poised rookie defenseman since Doughty. It's so rare to see a D-man just come into the league and be dominant defensively, but he did just that. Basically no growing pains.

With another assist tonight, he's now at 5pts in 6gms. Almost half as much as his 45 game total last season.

He is definitely fun to watch....he makes the difficult look effortless and always remains calm under pressure, which is crazy for a 19 year old kid on the blueline.

Now he's starting to show he's got offensive game too? Watch out, this kid is special. Sure will be fun to watch him continue to grow as a player.
