Imagine if we in the coming two drafts were to get Ekblad and Mcdavid. Drafted superstars, well if they don't bust, that bring us to where we want to be, the idea was ofcourse that Stepan, Staal, Lundqvist would do that but Hank is the only superstar and like many have said, he can't score goals.

I'm just tired of being a middle team, I'm swedish and it's kind of watching the swedish national team in soccer, I hate it, the media and everyone hypes that it's a success just getting past the qualifying rounds in the world cup and european championship, I echo Chael Sonnen's sentiments that if he would never get a title shot in the ufc he would quit because what's the point if you're not going to compete for a championship.

In essence, win it all or suck in style and get some real good, and I mean real good talent, ie Ekblad and McDavid.

This is basically a plea to Sather to not get us to be a middle team again.

those teams went from bottom feeders to border line playoffs teams.. since 05-06 rangers missed the playoffs i believe once, and have moved on to the 2nd around on multiple occasions.. we have not stood pat.. or should never bee compared to a team that gets excited about making to the playoffs. this team and all ny teams have expectations to win championships.. thats how they are measured..

I just don't understand what it is. The team just looks so lost. There is no teamwork or puck support and people cant even get their defensive zone coverage right.

Nobody has any idea what to do. Team only looks good when they forecheck and an create offense unless they are in opponents Zone already. Looks absolutely clueless in the neutral zone and defends with complete desperation because no one knows who to pick up. This is AVs fault. He should be canned for the team constantly being unprepared. No excuses.

Kenny D had some good commentary after the game. In the process of learning a new system, there will be times where players are not on the same page. The slightest hesitation or miscommunication lead to scoring opportunities against. It's way too early to panic, but you may want to simplify things a bit, tighten things up, win a 2-1 game, then slowly open things up over time.

Kreider and Miller are turds.

Yeah, right. Like it's an open and shut book.
I can hardly believe some of the crap I read around here.

The LA Kings fired a coach midway thru a season, hired Sutter and ended up winning a cup. Yet here we are with a full offseason under our belt talking about the hardships of a coaching transition and new system. Eh.

Yeah I don't know. I live inVancouver and they haven't looked sloppy at all trying to adjust to a new system. Theres been mistakes and odd man rushes, but nothing close to the total ineptitude we've been witnessing with the Rangers.

Sure the Ranger players are adjusting, but that lackadaisical POS coach needs to be held accountable for not being better prepared.

This thread was made after 4 games? Someone seriously said to fire a new coach after FOUR ****ing games? Are you ****ing kidding me?! What a pathetic, embarrassing, bridge jumping mentality. Yeah, let's bring Torts back, where we can behold more seasons of a non-transition game with that NCAA division 2 PP he ran. That was stellar. SMFH

I posted in the GDT about Daneyko's comments and I totally agree that the defense needs to simplify their game before they open things up.

I just wish that AV had watched more tape of last year's team over the summer. I get the clean slate thing, but perhaps if he watched the tape he would recognize that the defense would need to slowly transition into his system instead of an immediate implementation.

Hmm, the Rangers looked ready for this game, unlike a few previous games. I don't know how this is on AV, maybe it's just the way it went and it is becoming better, slowly.
The Rangers played a more talented team, and did well. Horrendous goaltending from Biron, and gifts in the form of a few ultra-stupid penalties helped the Blues on their way.

I'm not ready to blame Alain Vigneault. It's too soon.

I was going to say the same thing, maybe if he watched more tape we would have a more appropriate gameplan cause the present one isn't working. I also found it odd that it took him all summer before he met with players or even talked to some of them. A clean slate is one thing, not preparing is another. He seems very relaxed and with a franchise that has a history of being lackadaisical I don't think that's a good fit. Way too early to call for him to be fired but this could get interesting down the line. He's had success so you have to give him the benefit of the doubt for a while and ride this out.

AV did not work hard enough this offseason and the team is unprepared. I blame AV for this start and I really think he should fall on that sword. Everything he has done has been the wrong move in my opinion since he has been hired and the product on the ice is reflecting that.

Do you feel AV prepared the team to be ready Game 1 to at least have a basic idea of how he wanted to set up?

Do you think AV was efficient enough with how he spent time this preseason?

Do you think Scott Arniel was a good appointment?

Do you think AV is playing the team to their strength?

Do you think AV has instituted a good work ethic?

Do you think AV fits in that locker room?

All I see is a team behind the 8 ball tremendously relative to what their coach wants them to do. Even if they were ready for game 1, which I don't feel that that were, do you think this team has the players to play AV's style? Is the personnel effective?

I would answer most of these in the negative personally.

This team is obviously at their best forechecking and should kill off games with their puck possession so they aren't wiped out physically by April. Too many drastic changes in too short of a time period are neutering the team. The team has lost its identity and will probably lose their franchise player as a result. I cannot be an apologist for a coach who I feel hasn't made the right decisions for the team.

Problems with the organization:

- James Dolan
- Glen Sather
- The scouting staff doesn't know what "Hockey-IQ" means
- Even though there are a few fast players on the roster, it seems like the Rangers are one of the slowest teams in the league
- petey is missing a few keys on his keyboard. Notably the "shift" and "enter" keys
- Probably one of the least skilled teams in the league

There are a bunch of other problems within the organization but fixing these would be a great start.

I translated. This is not me. Please do not quote and respond as if it were... I agree with only a few of these opinions. Also, OP, I'm not trying to be rude but that was extremely painful to read in terms of formatting.

Just Joined and this is my first post.

I love the Rangers but kinda knew going in that it would be bumpy to start the season with a new coach and a new system on a long road trip. That being said, the two games vs. the Ducks and Sharks are the worst I have ever seen. Not that bad tonight vs. St Louis, and you will never hear this, but the Rangers have no faith in Biron. Yes, the King has sucked, but Biron is just real bad. I wish they had signed another back-up.

There are tons of missed assignments by the players learning a new system with Hagelin and Cally not being ready at all, and then Nash hurting. They have no flow to their game and need lines to play together and stay together. They have some good pieces but their 2nd and 3rd tier players just stink. I still believe they don't have a number one center either; Stepan, to me, is a 2nd line C and Richards is doing well but, to me, is also a 2nd line C. Brassard is a 3rd liner.

The Rangers have big guys who play like girls. Boyle needs to go. I know everyone says he's just a 3rd or 4th line guy, but he logs a good amount of ice time and does nothing! No threat to score, OK face off and PK, but if that's all he can do, then go away. Pyatt is another big guy who is soft and is not going to score or win battles in the corners. Our speedy guys don't use their speed and skill. We need scoring from Hagelin when he is back and MZA as well... if not, we'll have a real bad season. Nash will be Nash, Richards will play well, Cally will be Cally, and if they don't get production from the others (and maybe January call ups in Kreider and Miller) it will be a long season!

Hank will play well soon. The D will come around even though they still don't have a point on the powerplay. They also have a glaring weakness in tougness. Big guys who don't hit. Two years ago no one wanted to play the Rangers. Now everyone does. Asham needs to go, he's just old. Haley and Mashinter can fill his spot. Not only talking about fights, just overall "don't want to play against". Pyatt, Boyle, Asham and Dorsett can all go and are easily replaced. I'd rather see Stu Bickel play forward and Haley play on the 4th line. Bickel will never be a good dman, so we might as well. Put Mashinter on the 4th and scratch one from time to time so Dominic Moore plays some.

I have rambled enough, but they did play better against a cup contender tonight. Biron Killed them. When you have no faith in your goalie you will not win. Just like in baseball when players have no faith in the pitcher, the whole team starts to stink it up. Errors all over because they feel they won't win. Same thing here. They know that no matter what, Biron will give up soft goals, and it takes all of the wind out of their sails. Tighten up the D and put the King back in against the Caps.

I like the D pinching from time to time but some Rangers Dmen... it's not their thing. The Rangers need McIlrath to get it together so he maybe could take on a Beukeboom role. A stay at home Dman that lets the other Dman do this thing.

Oh, I forgot Leetch. Not here, but you know what I mean. Wow. Long first post. You can tell I have no life.

Remember, 4th line minutes, Stu Bickel, Brandon Mashinter, Michael Haley. Can't do any worse and it'd be a lot of fun to watch. I hate the Caps!

Peter Laviolette to save the current season.

Mike Johnston from the Portland Winterhawks for a full rebuild.

Dale Hunter would be a great shout if he is interested but he probably isn't.

Would give Guy Boucher an interview. Same with Mike Haviland.

There are top 6 spots open currently. Bring up Kreider and Miller and see where it goes. Play them big minutes. When Nash and Hags come back, play them still. You need 3 lines that are threats, and even the 4th has to chip in. Why does Kreider and Miller have to play top 6? Did we not develop Artie and others on the lower lines before moving up? He learned to play in the NHL by playing there, not in an inferior league.
This is exactly my point. Pyatt is not nor ever will be a top 6 type forward. We currently have 2 players, Miller and Krieder who fit the bill of a top 6 forward in the minors. They have skill and speed, not sure why they would not get a chance right now.
