How about lack of discipline, especially in the last half of games, leading to lots more exposure of a PK unit that WAS missing Emelin, and a string of consecutive games allowing PP goals, that was further exacerbated by a goalie that simply wasn't his best team's penalty killer when they really needed him to be, and exacerbated even further by a coach who refused to use our best defenseman as much as he could have to fill in the special teams gap left by Emelin (didn't we see games where Drewiske ended up with more PK minutes than PK?!).

I mean, Emelin is tied into a lot of that to a certain degree, but he had no impact on the timing of penalties, or how it wasted lots of time at the end of games where we were fighting to come from behind, nor on the inability of the team to come up with a solution to the problem quickly enough in his absence. I mean... if we're looking for more.

Game 1: Price Good, Defense Bad
Game 2: Price Good, Defense Good
Game 3: Price Good, Defense Bad
Game 4: Budaj Good, Defense Good
Game 5: Price Good, Defense Bad

I'd say Price stole this one. And judging by the post game thread and Three Star selection I'd say that I'm right.

Our D was terribad in the first and 2nd and we dominated play in the third. All and all, sweet win that we didn't deserve and probably Price's best performance of the year. Bring on the Jets.

Battled through a physical first half of the game long enough for the team to build a lead, and brought it home solidly. Great performance overall.

The team should cover price's window on the bus with a Rogers Arena picture, he is a god amongst men in that building

Outstanding game tonight by Price. Have been pleased with the goaltending in every game so far.

With that said, defense has to improve.

I have the feeling that Price is now getting to his real level.
Not saying he will always play like that but he is getting back his confidence.

Let's see if he can build on that.

For the past two years before this season here were some of my beefs with Price:

-Would overdo his lateral movements and end up completely out of place leaving the net wide open. He would end up flopping around in his net in a manner that wasn't any kind of goalie technique known to man.
-Didn't really feel like he was actually trying at times
-Was extremely weak glove and blocker side. If the situation required any type of reflex movement from his arms it was a 1 out of 10 situation
-Would seldom come up with big saves. At least not a rate that satisfied me.

So far this season, I've seen big improvements in all these areas.

I'm positively impressed with his start to the season. With Galchenyuk, Subban, Pacioretty, Eller, Gallagher already leading the habs, if Price can finally play up to his talent level things will be interesting.

PS : I've said it time and time again. A good PK starts with a good goalie. That sentence found its meaning perfectly yesterday.

.895 Lost
.957 Win
.880 Lost
.975 Win

I like what I see, some great games and some games where he had problems (or the defense).
So the recipe now is to repeat those great games more consistently.

Much positive to build on.

I'm still not impressed by the way he commits to some shots.

But in general he was sharp last night. I find the team played well, they just seemed a bit lost but individually they were good.

people like you need to wise up and learn the meaning of the word steal. Price was good when tested but the play was pretty even, Habs had the edge in chances and Price went almost an entire period without a dangerous shot.

If that's a steal then there are half a dozen steals every night.

Let's call this what it is, a strong but long overdue outing by Price.

Vintage Agnostic

So since he had an easy 3rd, you completely neglect the fact that he stopped something like 29 shots after 2?
