Yeah, judgment is still out on the Carter trade.

Watching the Canes/Coyotes on the Phoenix feed. Someone needs to explain hybrid icing to their commentators.

It's not a hard concept, but so many people still don't get it.

A gem from the main boards in the Weber to TOR thread :

Guy from the thread said though Weber is a norris caliber D man, he doesn't help his team

Makes sense.

I think we need a tally on how many trade proposals Reimer has been included in by Malple Leaf fans. Is it just me or is he not a very good goalie?

I'm excited to see Couturier's/Voracek's stat line vs Carter's at the seasons end.

Also, as well as Schenn/Simmonds vs Richards.

Opinion on something, was discussing this with my friends the other day, is it fair to compare the Richards trade by just comparing Schenn vs Richards head to head when discussing that trade, because Simmonds is the type of player that they could have found in free agency?

Not really. Simmonds is among the best in the league at the style he plays. The only comparable player in recent free agencies I can recall is Clarkson and, as he has proven to great effect, in free agency you generally have to overpay for players to different degrees. Simmonds isn't on a bad contract, but if we found a player like him through free agency we would have probably had to of overpaid. Plus there's no telling when a guy like Simmonds would hit free agency.

Ottawa looks like peewees against Anaheim.

Anaheim gets a plus for their sick throwbacks, too.

After giving up 50 shots to the Sharks last night, the Sens have given up 36 shots in 25 minutes to the Ducks tonight.

Edit: Ducks finish with 56 shots, a franchise record. Also a franchise record for shots allowed by Ottawa and now the Sens have given up 106 total shots against in their last two games.

NJ is so awful. I'm glad we're not them this season to be honest. At least we have young players and a good roster on paper that's just underachieving and at least we've been playing better since our coaching change even if it hasn't been resulting in wins. NJ is slow, old, and has no top-end or elite talent aside form Schneider on their team. Their best center is also Adam Henrique.

Even if that team were performing as a playoff team like even the most homer-like NJ fans predicted they don't have the roster nor play-style to win it all. Teams like Phoenix and Nashville and now NJ adopt the scoring by committee philosophy to stay competitive despite lacking extremely in top-end talent and game-breaking talent but that will never win you a Cup or at least not most of the time.

On top of that all they don't have a first rounder because of the Kovalchuk contract. They don't have a top prospect group either so the present and future both look bleak for them right now. At least we'll be fine for the future even if this season fails and at least Buffalo has a great young group and just needs a top-end talent or two.

Also, with their loss tonight it's the first time in franchise history they've started off a season by losing the first six.

I don't think there is any team in the league in worse shape than the Devils.

Just a god awful lineup on paper, and nothing to be excited about for the future.

At least the Flyers have a strong foundation in place and something to be excited about. The Devils have absolutely nothing. Not even their first round pick.

Just because we're awful doesn't mean they can't be awful. Besides, I'm not the one out there sucking on the ice.

Yet, I feel no sympathy for the Devils...

Whatever happened to that high pick Larsson? Wasn't he supposed to be the best thing since sliced bread?

If you ask me, I think he was rushed. And badly.

They really need to change the penalty shot rule, because as it stands you never know whether one's going to be awarded or not by the officials. The call they made in the MTL - VAN game was ridiculous.
