Came here to post this.

I couldn't loathe those two teams more than I do, but since there had to be a winner, I'm glad Weiss was the one to do it.

Love seeing my favourite player Dvorak score. I also really want to see what Olesz can do, but NJ won't play him

I have no issue with Weiss or Detroit. I think after their top 6, Detroit is below average. If you can find a way to manage their top 6, they're beatable (much easier said than done.) The defense is okay but nothing impressive. They're a playoff team no doubt but might be a bit overrated because their top 6 is so stacked.

Their top 6 plays over 70% of the game... That teams PP is amazing. Obviously I'm a huge Weiss fan, I think he fits in perfectly on that team. I hate that he's not on our team anymore. ;(

hard to believe but... twitter (heck, the word social media...) didn't exist; the players had no outlet other than the press and this stuff isn't really appropriate there.

Can we just trade for his twitter account? That's totally worth Jovo.

I know that , I'm not 12 lol he just never seemed like a fun guy in the interviews he gave. I wonder if I can dig up his myspace account circa 2004 Back on topic, Kyle Wellwood retired at the young age of 30, kind of surprising.

The NHL is going to have an awkward pr situation if Joe Thornton ever scores 4 goals in a game

who do you see throwing out 1-liners interviews? that was my point. twitter offers the player some lattitude in terms of self expression. they never had that before. i'm sure he's the same guy.

Honestly I didn't understand why anyone was upset with what Hertl did on that fourth goal. It was a beautiful move.

Hockey fans can really be an uptight bunch.

I can see why people have an issue with excess celebration AFTER a play, but what's wrong with a little bit of flourish DURING play.

Disrespecting your opponent? Please - stop the puck and stop crying.

Disrespecting the game? Please - That's akin to accusing a super-model of disrespecting modelling for showing too much skin on a bikini shoot.

Professional sports = entertainment. Some of the same bozos who want to crucify the kid have no problem with two heavy-weights with little real hockey talent coming off the bench to punch each other in the head.

The NHL needs more Hertl highlights and less Parros highlights

Wow I hadn't seen the quote before that's pretty funny. I guess now we know why they call him Jumbo Joe

and especially if those comments come from the coach of the Caps who have Ovi on the team....I am pretty sure he has scored a few trick goals as well

Igor Eronko: KHL’s Neftekhimik’s said there is a chance that Nail Yakupov could return to Russia. Coach added: ‘Nail’s father saw possible future problems back in summer.’

I see this as the kid pissed he was benched on a young edmonton team.

He was scratched against maple leafs.

Yes theres always a worry about a guy going back to Russia.. But this kid has been over here for a bit and i believe he wants to be here. He is top line talent and should be playing on a top line somewhere.

Personally if i'm Tallon i'd give edmonton a call. Panthers have enough of a minor league system where we could afford acquiring this guy and taking that risk.
A dman and a prospect could get this done I believe.

If you agree who would you be willing to part with of good value in order to aquire a talent such as Yakopov

i don't think they want versteeg, however, kulikov amd matthias makes perfect sense. they need a big center and a good young d-man to build around.

they would need a legit starter though, so markström might be dangled in such a deal, which would be no go for my part.

bjugstad, kulikov and matthias would probably do it, even if i don't like givign up bjugstad, its probably going to cost that

As much upside as Yakupov has, if he can't crack an Oilers lineup then I'm not really interested.

We have enough lazy players on this team.

id rather do something like kulikov mathias + 4th

or kulikov + howden + 3rd

id prefer not to mover bjugs or trocheck

shore would be an interesting dangle even though i love the kid.

If they traded Yak they would definitely want a stud D or D prospect in return, and I'm not sure we even have anyone that would interest them. They might want Matheson over Kulikov or Gudbranson. Realistically, I think it would cost Matheson, Gudbranson, and a prospect/pick. He was their #1 overall pick. And no way I pay that. Yakupov is being benched and played on the 3rd line because he hasn't played well at all this season no matter who he plays with, and he refuses to play defense. No doubt he's a great talent, but he's not someone I would give up all that for. Like JH said, we already have enough forwards like that on this team.

i agree that there seems to be a disconnect with him currently in Edmonton but I don't for one second let the Heavily Edmonton crowd over value their players.

for one some guys on there think he is worth 5 1st round picks..

that is silly. Truth is the GM of that team would trade almost anyone if he felt he was getting a deal that was improving the team today and next year.

The panthers could do that with some of our current and future players.

if we could find a way to hold onto bjugs trocheck petrovic i would be very pleased in making a deal for a guy with that much scoring potential.
