Basically Thanksgiving is just a time to gather with your family/friends and loved ones to celebrate what we're thankful for in our lives.

There's no concrete way of celebrating it, but it usually consists of a big turkey dinner with gravy, stuffing, potatoes, cranberry sauce and a bunch of other awesome sides. It's just a nice time to get together with family and unwind a bit before the final haul leading up to Christmas.

It's probably strange to Europeans, but thanksgiving is just to commemorate the brief period where N.A. settlers worked together and peacefully co-existed with the natives. They traded with eachother, helped eachother. Unfortunately some tribes also formed allegiances with the Europeans to wipe out more powerful tribes. And we all know about the terrible behavior of Europeans after that as well. But the tradition is to gather with friends and family and just give thanks for what you have. Like JH said, it's all part of the holiday blur. This is the best time of year. You have Halloween, Thanksgiving, and Christmas/Hannukah/Kwanza/I'm not sure all in a 2 month span.

“When fair is fowl and fowl is fair.”
Shakespeare wrote of Thanksgiving Day.
“What? You don’t know you weren’t there,
He could have said it, what the hey!”

“Lay on MacDuff,” to his chicken said.
I’m pretty sure he also wrote;
Yes, in poultry facts the way he led.
Shakespeare man, I duly note.

“The pilgrims what you don’t say,
That’s how Thanksgiving began?
Okay with John Bunyan I’m okay,
A Pilgrims Progress you know it man.”

“Neither Bunyan or Shakespeare you fool,
‘Twas on the Mayflower whence the pilgrims came;
To Plymouth Rock you tool,
They gave Thanksgiving its name.”

“The Indians saved their sorry butts,
Those early settlers long ago;
In America, you may think I’m nuts,
But it was noted by Edgar Allan Poe.”

And the Raven writ by him
To celebrate and eat how very quirky;
But because the taste was so very grim
For Thanksgiving we now eat turkey.
