I am going to be a little surprised if Biron doesn't get claimed to be honest.
I hope they both get claimed. # of contracts drops to 46 I believe without them. That's a good thing.

Agreed. Although I don't mind Asham at all.

I don't mind either player, but neither are irreplaceable and the extra cap space and contract spots are nice.

I said all of this in the off-season too. Just too many of the same level of player within this organization. Quantity =/= Quality.

Big opportunity for Missaen as well in the AHL. I wonder who comes up to back him up? Stajcer? Or do they promote Malcolm who they just signed to a AHL deal?
Stajcer is injured indefinitely, so he's not in the picture at the moment. They'll probably call up Malcolm and sign some journeyman ECHL-caliber guy.

Wait, what? Did I miss that? What did he do?

Would it make more sense to have Missaen in Hartford and Malcolm in the ECHl so they both play a lot? Sign a AHL guy as a back-up?

I liked Marty. Good locker room guy. Same with Asham. Hope they find home somewhere good.

C'est la vie.

I wouldn't mind if Asham gets claimed but he would help Hartford for sure. Another big body who will drop the gloves to go along with Haley, McIlrath, Yogan and Mashinter.

I will be shocked if either player gets claimed. Lets see what Talbot can do but I'm sure Slats has another move ready if this kid shows he can't handle the back up position. With the camp Talbot had this is the right move, he deserves a shot.

With AV saying he wants more skill on the team, I doubt it

That would definitely go against AV's latest remarks about needing more offense.

I'd rather see Dorsett gone at this point. I really like Biron, but he is not the same goalie he once was anymore.

Eeek, what a mess.

Such an interesting play, shaking up things on the backend. Either just basically to search for an option we can trust to relieve Hank, light a fire under him, or start to inch away from this notion that Hank = NYR and there can't be life without him.

I think Dorsett just needs some coaching. The guy is good for 10-15 goals a year + some much needed spark if he learns to control himself.

Not my cup of tea, but with AV's active style of roster changes IE LAK game, STL game..I don't mind Dorsett staying around and being inserted for rough and tumble matchups.

This is especially true when you consider AV's system is a speed game, and Kreider - Miller + Calllahan or Fast is tailor made to order to be # 2 line for this club.

Pyatt I completely agree. AV, just let it go...

Boyle, I would prefer to move, not get greedy, but get legit worth. He is mostly solid D (occasional lapse), height = something of presence, very good on FOs, and shows up for playoffs. Has 0 offensive creativity. Should take the draw and flip with a C playing LW immediately after faceoff.

That Richards has looked a bit better from a HORRID season last year does NOT mean he is playing as well as some are saying.

We should not risk him being injured and unavailable for amnesty bo next year.

That said, if we push our luck, we are better off moving Stepan + for Seth Jones + if we can, w/Brassard our #1, Miller (see above #2), and Richards 3 at best, with Dom Moore anchoring the 4th line.

Not to turn this into a toughness thread (please don't do that ) but nuking Asham makes this soft team even softer.

Have been pushing for Talbot to replace Biron since last year. Marty still had something in the tank then, but less now, would have been nice to get SOMETHING for him.

Talbot has a very fast glove. Hard to deny that key part of his game is not NHL ready. Of course, there is more than just that to NHL netminding, and playing top minutes has helped.

He had another surgery on his hip in the offseason. That's two or three. You have to believe he's pretty much done. A goalie with bad hips?
