Go get him Holmgren. Buy low.

Yakupov scratched again for Edmonton.

Edit: auto-correct hates Russians.

What's the deal here? From reading some Oiler fans' take on the situation, it sounds like he's putting in the effort.

Wow... is there some sort of schism or something over there? Eakins is known as a harsh coach?

I believe the biggest complaint with Yak is he is bad defensively. Yes, I understand he is a great offensive weapon, but he needs to learn to play in all three zones. Eakins is trying to send a message here.

And for a team like the Flyers who can't score. He'd be a welcomed addition.

The price for him would be high, there is no buying low on a second year 1st overall pick who is a healthy scratch for the 2nd game in a row. Simmonds+ for Yak+ is a deal maybe that could be worked out. I would make a proposal very similar to the Seguin deal.

Also pretty telling comment here from him. Attitude and work ethic have to improve.

I agree, Holmgren needs to move "power forwards" for "snipers"

The comment isn't good at all, but you know what you get when you draft these guys. Look at what happens when you try to put a square peg in a round hole (Ovechkin)

Datsyuk just had a really nice assist on a Zetterberg goal.

Fun to watch those 2

I guess it's time to save his own job now, another loss or two and something bad is going to happen.

Agreed. You buy a chicken for eggs, don't be so surprised when it doesn't give you milk.

But I think that's the type of player that Couturier needs, feed a scorer and play defense and let the sniper do his thing. Could be a nice complement to each other's games.

Yakupov should take a lesson from fellow Russian Datsyuk. Guy never stops back checking.

Sounds to me like he's playing the wrong sport then.

I agree. See if a Simmonds + can get Yak. Of course having Mez as the + is prefered

I mean... really? You get paid millions to play a sport. If the coach asks me to come over every morning and make him breakfast, I would do it.

Simmonds + what though? I wouldn't give away our 1st this year, since it looks like it will be pretty high. I doubt they would give away Yakupov for cheap.

You guys really want Yakupov? IMO, it's too big of a risk to trade valuable pieces for a guy who doesn't want to play team hockey. He's not gonna last long in the NHL if he just wants to play "his game".

Yeah, that quote from Yak makes me say stay away from him. Doesn't like to skate? Why is he playing ice hockey then?

I don't think the Flyers are in a good position to make many trades. We don't have enough expendable pieces to buy someone like Yak and have it be a true improvement; the team will get weaker elsewhere. I'm a fan of building with what we have and building from within. For too long the organization has tried for the fast solution. I'm glad they've tried for a more reasonable approach since the 2011 trades.
