"We had nothing,'' Tomas Fleischmann said. "Everything we tried to get around the boards didn't happen. They didn't give us much. We knew they would force every line and they did. Our second effort wasn't there. We just couldn't find anything. I don't think we made it very hard for [Scrivens] to get a shutout. That is on us.''

Red Eye: The Almost Panther Watch

Seth Jones, once considered the undisputed 1st overall pick in the 2013 NHL Entry Draft, surprisingly went 4th overall to the Nashville Predators. The Panthers certainly considered it but had a more pressing need at center, drafting the NHL-ready Aleksander Barkov. The two will square off for the first time in the NHL and try to bring some life back to their respected teams.

Red Hot: Cat Of The Night

Aleksander Barkov has gotten off to a great start in his rookie season with the Panthers. While the last game was a let down for just about everyone, Barkov continues to work hard and recorded 3 points against the Penguins, with 2 goals already on the year.

Asked if 3-0 loss to Kings was wakeup call 4 team, Dineen said, "We’ve had plenty of wakeups. We’re done with the wakeup calls" #FlaPanthers

Show us something then coach.

Hopefully Markstrom can play like he did against LA, if so I think we have a good chance.

Only if the rest of the team plays like they did against Pittsburgh!

Great title.

Would love to see Barkov make Jones look silly on his way to a goal.

Not really. They played ok against LA, it's just that they didn't have the same room to make plays in the offensive zone like they did against Pittsburgh. Nashville has good defense too, I just don't think Nashville has the potential to score the way LA has the potential to do.

Their back-up Hutton played 50 min in their opener on the 3rd after Rinne got pulled early (22SA 1 G). No action since. Wouldn't be surprised to see him in. Playing your back-up goalie seems like the thing to do against us lately.

I highly doubt it. Nashville has had 2 days off, doesn't play again until Thursday, and has back-to-back games Saturday and Sunday. Couple that with the fact they can't score and are off to a slow start, and I'm pretty sure Rinne will play, and Hutton will take Saturday or Sunday. Off topic, but I totally called Scrivens against the Panthers, that guy is unstoppable against us.

Sounds like Nick B might be centering the fourth line with Matthias moving to wing on the third or something like that. It would be cool to see him in the lineup.

I'm betting full V-Cash on this one, I'm feeling good about this game for some reason.

Rinne hasn't been his usual self so far, so I'm guessing he's in for a shutout.

2-0 NSH, Jones with the empty netter.

My dad and I are up here in Nashville on a road trip. You'll see a couple of panthers jerseys in the stands tonight!

Panthers bounce back and get two points tonight. Gonna be a scrappy game and I think the grit will show. Kids probably got reamed yesterday and want to show they heard the message loud and clear. 3-0 cats so we dont have to worry

That makes sense. Didn't look ahead at Nashville's schedule.

Nice! Is Mathias on a wing or is he scratched?
