Just picked him up on waivers in my fantasy league, so I am also hoping he has 40+ points this year. And lots of SOG.

What I don't get is how we hear about Larsson on here, constantly, and he has done nothing. Brodin looked like what Larsson is suppose to look like. Add another Swedish player into the mix for their Olympic team.

The way Brodin is playing, don't see how they can leave him behind. He will be Olympic bound if this keeps up.

Serious question but has there been a defenseman like Brodin in the past 5-10 years to step into the NHL at such a young age and show almost no problems adapting to the North American game? Remember, Brodin only played 9 games in the AHL before joining the Wild. Plus he's showing no signs of a sophomore slump.

Are you only talking about European/foreign players? If so then no I can't think of anyone who had such a seamless transition. If not, like I mentioned earlier, Doughty is the only other.

Mårts selected Brodin to play at the WC in 2012 when Brodin was just 18. I think Mårts has a good eye for Brodin.

Right now he's a lock for the second pairing.. I cant see them leaving him behind.

I'm curious to see if Suter - Brodin will be our top pair for the next 5+ years or if we get another solid top 4 d-man if Yeo would split them up to make two awesome pairings. Something like:

Suter - Dumba?
Brodin - ?

With Brodin actually preferring to play on the right side, doubt he moves over to the left any time in the foreseeable future.

If we were building a swedish All-star team of offensive defencemen, then you could arguably leave him out. For me he's a complete lock for an Olympic team.

To be honest, Huberdeau should just come out and admit that Brodin deserved the Calder last year.

It's amazing, really. Nobody building a team would take a 45-point 2nd line forward over a 23-minute first-pairing defender, but when it comes to Calder voting, the idiot reporters are tripping over themselves to vote for the forward.

As a Canuck fan who is still bitter about Ohlund losing to Samsonov in 1998, can feel the frustration from Minny fans on this one.

Huberdeau had a great season though as did Brodin. Both were deserving even though I really thought Brodin was having the best rookie-season.

Mostly they go with the forward but in 02/03 they went with Barret Jackman over Henrik Zetterberg.. weird I know, but if Pronger doesnt go down that season I doubt you see Jackman win the calder.

The wild got robbed of two trophy's last year: Suter for Norris and Brodin for Calder. Absolutely love Brodin's game and I think he'll be one of the best Dmen in the league in a few years (this is coming from a Canuck fan)

North American, I don't know. Junior to pros, yes. He played against one last night.

So impressed with Brodin. Love his fluent skating, his smartness and the fact he never seems to make mistakes. Grats to Wild for having this gem of a d-man in their rooster. I was so hoping we would be able to snatch him at the draft.

Admittedly, I haven't seen ALOT of OEL but from what I can gather, Brodin's defensive game is as smooth and magical as OEL's offensive/puck moving game.

But Brodin's offensive game is growing with more confidence and points showing up when he takes chances.

EDIT: To add, my dream pair is Brodin-OEL. They better put them together in the Olympics.

Its just 6 games so we'll have to see if Brodin can keep this up, maybe not the offensive pace but his overall high level of play. I think he can get 40 pts, our team isn't scoring much yet given the chances we've had, but he looks really good on the PP as well, his passing is so top notch, tape to tape passes.

So glad Wild got him

It was cool when HF rated him 7.5B after he was a very productive first pairing defenseman on a playoff team in the West as a 19 year old rookie.

Yeah... Brodin has future all-star D-man written all over him.
