So, as we were getting smoked last night this popped into my head, and this might be a better question for the Random Topic thread but here goes....
What is the placing logic of the banners for all the NHL teams that hang from our rafters? Obviously it is by division but other than that, it seems to be a crap shoot. The only conclusion I can come up with is it is it is in the order of how they came out of the dryer prior to being hung.
I think that they are hung up by division, when i was at the bridge for the taylor swift concert in sept, they were already hung up,but the Maple Leafs and Blue Jackets banner's were missing.
As bad as we think this season has gone so far, we've lost 3 games to teams with a combined total of 1 loss.
Was going to post something about this
those teams are a combined 13-1
the two teams we beat are a combined 4-3-3 with us contributing 2 of the 3 regulation loses. Biggest issue is our division has been on fire to start.
Seth, what do you think of the offensive system that the Preds are using? Is it the same system that they tried to implement last year, that you briefly talked about?
Sorry I missed this earlier...
Last season the Predators introduced a new overload coverage defensive system and they have stuck with it with a few minor changes.
When you watch the team play you will notice both defensemen and the center (low forward) in the corner when the puck carrier is pinned along the wall. This puts slot coverage onto the weakside winger to swag low and pickup any pucks or players that come through the area and also has the strongside winger completely responsible for cutting off the pass to the point as that and a D to D pass is the quickest way to beat the system.
It's working to a point. The players are getting better at it. It is not as bad as it was last season. I still prefer the traditional man on and box behind system and when surfing around the NHL during the free Center Ice preview I've noticed a fair amount of teams still using it, but it is a mix across the league.
with the updated reports that Josi isnt even cleared to work out, you have to wonder if Cooper mis-heard this or if Trotz was being deliberately misleading about Josi
Don't you have a mandatory "one week" after concussion? I think that is what he was referring to and Cooper just didn't think about it.
Josi is walking around town, saw a pic of him in a whole foods the other day. But for working out, doesn't sound good.
If anyone ever wondered what goes on when a player is brought to "The Quiet Room" after a head shot, the sheet attached here is the protocol used by the attending team physicians across the league to standardize testing.
yeah, I know but the way it was quoted made it sound like Josi would return before Stalberg which is why I was wondering if Cooper had misunderstood
I think the important part of the quote was "at the earliest". Cooper was misleading though. A little loose for a beat writer, but that's nothing new from Cooper. You have to read between the lines with his reporting at times.
