Lindros' World Cup chances

Lindros' play has improved a lot as of late. He's been a shadow of his former self in previous years due to mutliple knocks to the noggin and the danger of his career going the way of his brother. He played tentatively, didn't like going into corners for the puck and didn't hit a whole lot. Now the entire physical aspect of his game is back. He battles in the corners, he takes the punishment in front of the net and skates end to end again.
Granted, he's not the guy that carries the torch for the post-Gretzky era of players(despite the media labelling him "The Next One" during his peak in Philly), but does he have a chance to make the WOrld Cup team for Canada? He's got international experience, as he was part of the Salt Lake team, and at 31, can be considered a leader for the younger players. With Canada's depth down the middle, could he be a winger instead?

Discuss.

I think it's better for him to stay healty and try to be at his best in the NHL . Doctors said he may be only 1 cocussion away from retirment so if i'm him i don't play on the international level .

I dont see a lot of Lindros but I dont think he has much of a chance to make Canada's World cup. Thornton and Sakic would be ahead of him as a scoring line Center?

I could see him making it as a fourth-liner if Gretzky and Co. decide to go in "bash-and-crash" mode again.

I would rather have Peca or Ricci in that role.

We can have more than one fourth-liner, and Eric Lindros has been infinitely better than Mike Ricci who is a fourth liner in SJ this season.

I envision the checking line center going to Madden or Peca.

I agree because that is the part of his game he has had to cut back on to avoid the concussions. He could have been avesome if he didnt have a soft head?

Bah, the checking line should be:

Morrow - Peca - Doan

Now that's some grit..

World Cup Chances - Slim to none
World Championship Chances (the tournament which no one cares about and all the good players are playing in the playoffs) - 50% chance even if the rangers do miss the playoffs

World Cup Lines if lemieux comes back and allison doesn't

Bertuzzi - Sakic - Kariya
Lemieux - Thornton - Yzerman (yzerman switches to wing like the olympics)
Nash - Peca - Iginla
Lecavalier - Madden - Heatley

Pronger - MacInnis
Blake - Foote
Jovanovski - Neidermayer
Redden

Brodeur
Theodore

World Championship lineup imo (lemieux and allison won't play)

Nash - Francis - Doan
Smyth - Savard - O'Neil
Drury - Brind'Amour - Sullivan
Dupuis - Langkow - Lindros

or something like that
Smyth -

I'd say he has zero chance. There are at least 20 canadian forwards in the NHL better than he is. If they only want him because of his size, he doesn't use it anyways so they would be better off leaving him watching Canada win it on TV.

Plus if I'm driving all the way to Montreal to see Canada play 2 games I better not see him on the team.
