we havent played well since the Detroit game, but this is just the lowest point all season so far. we look pathetic. Can't connect on simple passes, not getting in passing lanes, getting knocked off the puck to easy, zero sustained offense pressure. Trotz needs to light a fire under their a## quickly or we will get swept this road trip.
that snow angel save from mason might be the one bright spot in this game.
It also got him Awarded the 2nd Star of the Game here in Phoenix. It was a fun game to watch from the stands. Mason kept the Preds in the game or it coul dhave gotten seriously out of hand.
For the comment by the cry baby about the cheating Sapy.. The Ref signlaed after that he could see it. If the ref can see the puck they don't blow the whistle. They are funny that way.
Too many penalties, 7-2 were the PP's. Too few shots. Outshot 42-21, that's pathetic!
Flat in the first period. But a sweet 2 on 1 by Leggy and Sully.
Better second period, even if we give up a lucky goal. Nice goal by Radulov. Three Preds standing there while Saprykin comes in and pokes at Mason to get the puck in. At least ONE of the Preds standing there should have hit him just for taking that shot at Mason when they thought he had it covered. Or at least got in his way as he was barreling towards Mason.
Terrible third period. Outshot 16-3. We made them look like all-stars.
I dread to see what that kind of effort will result in on Wednesday.
Well can't blame this one on Mason if not for him we get blown out. Its pretty sorry when Yanic Perault is more physical than your fowards LOL. We got outworked and outhustled, I think we are trying to be too darn cute and make picture perfect goals, I wish we would just try to get a ugly, dirty, fluky goal sometimes.
The past three games our offensive scheme has been "blindly fling the puck into the neutral zone and hope that Sully or Kariya can track it down for a breakaway"
and it hasnt been working.
To make matters worse, last nigh it turned into "blindly fling the puck into the skate of whoever is keeping it in at the blueline". Talk about turn overs.
- I also got aggravated at Trotz for not adjusting to the way the game was being played. Examples:
Phoenix digging pucks from under our goaltender, Nashville not touching their goaltender.
Phoenix molesting our forwards, I dont know how they didnt get at least 4 different holding or interference calls. Nashville giving them room to skate.
Congrats to Yanic for playing a really strong game. When we needed to win that final faceoff for a quick shot on goal, I looked to see Nichol taking on Yanic in the faceoff circle and lost all glimmer of hope.
For a coach that preaches defensive responsibility, we suck defensively. It would be nice to see our powerplay do something once in awhile besides lose faceoffs and stand behind Mason or Vokoun for half the man-advantage.
We deserved to lose. Pitiful efforts in the first and third. We played terrific in the second, and then just quit.
That is at least the 10th 2 goal lead that we have given up. I'm going to have to go back and see how many 2 goal leads we have blown, already, this year.

This team is so good, that when we lose like that, its maddening. You know its going to happen occasionally, but still, I have a hard time swallowing such a poor effort.

I'd have a much easier time taking this loss if we hadn't played so bad since the Detroit game. Look at our efforts against Philadelphia, St.Louis and Chicago. Yeah we ended up winning, but against better teams, we will get punished for games like we played.
I really wish we could do a better job with holding the puck in the other team's zone. It seems like teams can move the puck freely around in our zone, while we just dump the puck and hope to keep it in. We're relying on counter attacks way too much.

Actually, Phoenix took care of that. Zigomanis ran full into Saprykin after he scored and knocked him down. It made me laugh.

well at least someone was amused. Im glad that a good crowd showed up for the game, the fans got rewarded. Today Preds Nation just has to look on the bright side of life.
