The game was over when Detroit killed that 5-3.

Boston got desperate and got rewarded with that Lucic goal however Detroit was in control for most of the game.

That game was a treat. It's probably the complete opposite of what i'm about to watch tonight between EDM - WSH.

As the only members of the Eastern Conference who have heard of defense, Detroit and Boston may as well just play a best-of-49 for the Atlantic Division. Detroit barely scrapes into the playoffs in the West last year, but should have home ice advantage in the playoffs in the East.

Keep in mind they came closer than anyone to knocking out the Cup-Winning Hawks.

They were a shallow, shallow team from Day 1 but somehow it all started to come together towards the end of the season.

Even with the additions of Weiss and Alffy, it's going to take the returns of Helm and Eaves, and likely a deadline-day Dman pickup before we call that team a legit contender again.

The miracle that was last spring won't happen again IMO.

I don't think Detroit can get past Boston as it stands, but the ability to play team defense will go a long way in that conference, which is just a circus defensively. There's a reason the West is 27-6-3 against the East so far. Makes the decision to hand Norris votes to the likes of Subban and Letang over guys like Keith and Pietrangelo look even more foolish than it already looked last year.

Colorado gives up another 40 shots yet remains undefeated...

Toronto gets outshot 38-14 and improve to 6-1.

Must be nice to have a goalie.

But really, the bottom is going to crash on Colorado. You can't allow plus 35 shots every night and keep winning.

Enjoy it while you can Colorado.

SJ crushes STL after Lapierre takes out Boyle. What I noticed about the Sharks1) they shoot the puck whenever possible, (2) they are extremely hard-working along the boards, and (3) you can see the confidence Niemi has right now because there were a few times he didn't know exactly where the shot went but he was out challenging so far the shooter had nothing to shoot at.

Very random observations on new NHL divisions.

Geography fail, NHL style, continued indefinitely:

Almost all of the "Atlantic" division not located on the Atlantic. Multiple Teams that are, not located in "Atlantic" division, lol.

Edmonton, Calgary, located in "Pacific" division.

Both cities being further away from the Pacific ocean than the 90% of humanity that is located closer to an oceanic body of water.. Phoenix, barring a massive tectonic quake and swallowing California not bordering Pacific Ocean either.

I realize the groupings make little sense whatever is involved but simply renaming them all with arbitrary names like "Metropolitan" would look a little less silly.

Red, Green, Black, and Blue for all I care but the Atlantic and Pacific monikers are just plain silly.

Anybody with a clue would be done with those terms.

Kronwall takes a cheap shot from McLeod early in the first period.

Detroit comes together - guess who gets promoted to 1st pairing minutes - my man Danny DeKeyser.

Datsyuk pure dominance today, clutch goal from Franzen - and they hand the Avs their first loss.

What a win after their de-facto #1 defenseman went down.

Would be nice to see an Eastern team beat a Western team (that isn't us).

Man how nervous is New Jersey getting right now? Currently forfeiting the 4th overall pick (If I'm not mistaken). Ouch.

I don't think there is anyway (bar lottery) that anyone is getting the 1st overall pick from Buffalo.

I still don't know why they didn't forfeit their 29th pick or whatever it was.

Well Detroit just tanked their lead to the Coyotes...

******* the East is terrible.

Also the Flames come up against the Sharks and look like the team we'd all thought they'd be.

Please just don't have the Kings/Stars go into OT.

Scores again tonight.

Just pisses me off really. Guy never scored more than 30 in Jr and he's on a 50 goal pace in the NHL. Surprised if he finishes with 20 but still the improbability factor going on here is just typical Flames stuff. Gotta give credit I guess but..

At least Flames are losing games now and starting to inevitably sink.

SJ fell asleep at the wheel but just so dominant when they want to be, and that's without Boyle. So strong along the boards, and I like that they actually run set plays.

I'd love the Oil to start using the high slot tips again.

I'm most definitely not looking forward to the Oilers' games against the Sharks.

Their possession down low in the zone is unbelievably good and the Oilers struggle with that type of game even against weaker teams.
