Its a no brainer. I don't even think about it.

This is all assuming he'd sign for a reasonable amount, of course. No more than Biron's cap hit. Probably would need to be less.
Maybe you should think about it, because the logical choice is Talbot. Aren't people tired of watching this team fill roster spots with signings, that should easily be filled from within it's own system?

Edit: I know the thought of having a Lundqvist/Bryzgalov tandem is tantalizing, but it's an absurdly unnecessary risk, IMO.

No brainer! Don't even need to think about it!

I find that the people that usually claim things to be "no brainers" that require no thought usually act as if they have no brain and never give anything any real thought.

Signing Bryzgalov would be such a Rangers/Sather move.

I think some of fall in love with players just because they are "from the system"

Its really difficult for me to choose a 26 yearold career AHLer over a proven NHL netminder.

It doesn't require much thought for me to conclude that Bryzgalov is better than Cam Talbot, unless for some reason Cam is some hidden 26 yearold AHL gem that we've been hiding from everyone.

Because one must be a 'gem' to be better than the great Ilya Bryzgalov.

Why does one bad year, behind a terrible defense, in a highly run and gun system mean that Bryzgalov is no longer a capable goalie?

You don't need to be a gem to post a .905 SV% in the NHL. Why are you making Bryzgalov out to be great shakes? He's been mediocre the past two seasons. Is he some gem that has been inexplicably blackballed by the league, or is he a 33-year old netminder in decline?

Body of work. I don't disagree that hes in decline, but in a reduced role, 20 games a year.. I fail to see how he isn't a great option, and a nice insurance policy should Hank ever go down.

He put up similarly bad numbers in 2008 and bounced back with two stellar seasons for PHX.

But it would seem this discussion is now moot with Sather's comments.

I think the organization needs to see what it has in Cam Talbot. If the guy can't cut it at the NHL level, then you can bring in a veteran from somewhere else.

As you said though, it appears to be a non-issue now.

Sather's quote isn't enough to change it from speculation?

Yeah, appears it was more "spitballing" by the original source.

It wouldn't be the first time a general manager made a move contradictory to his public comments.

For all intents and purposes, this **** is done. Still some potentially interesting discussion to be had though.

6 pages in now... Can some one please explain what exactly Bryzgalov did to be considered such a locker room cancer and earn the reputation he has? Was there a single incident? Multiple?

I have no clue what went on in the flyer dressing room. For all I know, they all got along great and Bryz wasn't a distraction at all. But Bryz drew a lot of media attention to himself with his comments, and he pouted publicly when asked if he was playing in the winter classic. IIRC, he announced that he wasn't playing before the coach did, which I'm sure didn't sit well with the organization.

Any time a player draws media attention for off-ice stuff, it has the chance to be a distraction. I'm not saying it was, because I don't know, but I can see how it could be.

Flyers are tough on goalies. Ask last years Vezina winner.

There has been one quote that was unattributed about how he "sometimes" rubbed his teammates the wrong way in Phoenix...other than that no proof, just a lot of "I heard"

Agree to disagree.

I don't think this is the year with the Olympics to find out of Cam can handle the workload...if the team didn't think he was up to the challenge 2 weeks ago, what's changed?
