Phi-tor-edm

Hey folks. Edm fan here. Hopefully it won't be too obvious.

Anyway, some thoughts into this three way trade.

1. no interdivision trading
2. Meets each teams need
3. Pieces may need to be added, this is merely the center pieces.
4. I may have the lines and/or d pairings wrong on tor and phi. I tried though! HA!

To Edmonton:
Braydon Schenn (edm needs a third line C and someone to push gags on the second line)
Luke Schenn (Stay at home d to anchor our puck movers)
James Reimer (um... duh)

To Philidelphia:
Nail Yakapov (elite finisher in the making)

To Toronto:
Sean Couturier (second line center with potential top line)

Edm
Hall - RNH - Hemsky
Perron - Gagner - Eberle
Smyth - Schenn - Jonesu
etc

Smid Petry
Schenn Schultz
Belov Ferrence

Reimer
Dubnyk

Phi
Hartnell Giroux Voracek
Yakapov Lecal Simmonds
Read Talbot
etc

Coburn Steit
Grossmann Mez
Gust Timm

Toronto
JVR Kadri Kessel
Lupul Couturier Bodie
etc

Phaneuf Franson
Rielly Ranger
Fraser Gunnarsson

Leafs get Couturier for Reimer?

Flyers give up both Schenns and Couturier for Yakupov?

Leafs giving up way too little and Flyers giving up too much.

No thanks, this is terrible for Philly. Couts, both Schenns for Yak.

Ok, fair enough. So if Philly doesn't get enough, and toronto isn't giving enough. What does Toronto need to add? A pick? A prospect?

It's not so much that we need something else coming back too, it's just that we aren't gonna move all three of those in any trade. Couldn't we just totally cut Toronto out of this and trade for Yakupov with Couts +

Cut Toronto out of the trade and work a trade from there with Philly giving up much less.

Every trade proposal on here for Philly talks about needing a top line finisher. What exactly are you expecting to give up for that? Not only that... Yakapov is going to be a star, not just a top line finisher, but a top 10 goal scorer... maybe top 5. He is a heck of a lot to get back.

Having said that, I do see how it is a lot to give up. It does gut the team quite a bit. You would need something else. Perhaps Toronto would sweeten the pot with a roster player. Edm is willing to add a pick and/or prospect (not named klefbom or nurse) as well.

Leafs don't need to be in this deal. I don't think Reimer solves the Oilers goaltending issue.

Take Toronto out of the deal completely. Work a deal around Edm and Philly.

Yakapov has the talent to be a star but it's far from a sure thing. There have been many talented players that didn't live up to their potential.

Edmonton's biggest need right now is the tender. But Toronto does not have enough pieces to make it worth Yak and Toronto needs Centers.. .something Edmonton does not have and Philly has in abundance.

Philly needs finish and has centers
Toronto needs a center but has d or goal
Edmonton needs... help but has some extra elite and redundant talent lying around.

Why trade him at all if you feel he'll be a top 10 goal scorer? Why not move another one of your young pieces if he is such a sure bet? And we do need a finisher, but not at the cost of both Schenns and Couts, even if it's getting Yakupov and something else back, we're losing three solid younger players we've spent time in developing and suit the team even if their offense has been lackluster so far. We're losing our top pairing dman, our leading point getter, and a shutdown third line centre.

You are way overvaluing Reimer. EDM and Toronto can work out a deal that involves prospects or picks and not one of their top end players. Reimer is not going to land a player that will fill Torontos need.

Why take Toronto out? They give up the best goalie in the deal. Edmonton gives up the best forward and Philly gives up the best D man in the deal. Make that trade!

Maybe if you exchange Bolland for B. Schenn?

Edm
Bolland
L. Schenn
Reimer

Philly
Yak

Tor
Couts

That way Toronto gives up too much. You have just made a case to take Toronto out of it.

Sure If you want to use that perspective: Edmonton gives up the worst winger, Philly the worst center and defenseman. Have it your way!

Take Toronto out of this.

Yak to Philly for the Schenns is tempting.

I know you said in advance how you may have the lines wrong and all but I had to laugh at Bodie on our 2nd line

Yak for the Schenn Bros sounds pretty fair.

Philly gets a great prospect and Oilers solve fill some holes with two solid young players who probably won't have any issue sticking around long term given that they're from Saksatoon.

coming back in time a little bit Schenn+Couturier+JVR(L.schenn) "the guys you have in this deal" i'm pretty sure someone wanted that package in exchange for an elite #1 Dman
