Talk is cheap. Start scoring goals.

Giroux and Read are snake bitten right now. They will both probably hit the post again before they actually score a goal.

The players saying optimistic things or giving out generic responses isn't exactly new.

I'm gonna put my optimist hat on for a minute.

The Flyers WILL score 3 or more goals tonight!!!

They may concede 6 or 7..... Oh shoot. The hat fell off.

Yeah the platitudes and optimistic talk should have officially expired with Lavi's firing....time to put up and shut up. It's has gone from we gotta play 60 mins to...we're getting there...

What do you want them to say? "We suck and we're not getting better"?

Skate Update: Flyers feel wins will come very soon

They’re on the verge of winning. Or so they’d like you to believe.

The Flyers, at 1-6, haven’t had the start to the season they’d like. Not even close. But soon -- perhaps even tonight against the Pittsburgh Penguins -- they’re going to right the ship.

And they should know. They’ve been in situations like this before.

“What’s going on right now makes me think of when we played Boston in the playoffs,” Claude Giroux said, referencing the 2010 Stanley Cup semifinals. “We were down 3-0, but we were talking to ourselves and we were like, ‘How the hell are we down 3-0? We should be up 3-0.’ We just stayed with it and came back and won the series.

“It’s a long season. If you think about it, we still have 75 games left. That’s a lot of games.”

The Giroux quotes don't jive with Voracek's recent admission that they are collectively pretty lost and fearful about making mistakes. The latter just rings a lot truer.

It definitely seems closer to the truth. Giroux is captain though, and he needs to lead with optimism.

Voracek also wasn`t part of the team that came back against Boston, so he doesn`t have the same firsthand experience to relate back to.

I can see where Giroux`s coming from. I missed the Carolina game, but every other game I thought the Flyers did just about everything right outside of scoring goals. The penalty kill against Detroit was embarrassing, but I was happy with pretty much everything else. They very well could have won 5 of their first 7 games.

Now, if the next seven games go like the first seven, we`re looking at the real possibility that the Flyers are the worst team in the NHL. If they can start putting the puck in the net, though, I can see them turning things around given how well they have actually played 5-on-5 this year.

They`ve seemingly gone from a terrible team at 5-on-5 who can score goals in bunches to a pretty good team 5-on-5 who couldn`t score three goals to save their collective lives.

Yeah I was thinking the same thing..it's nothing to hang their hat on and it can't persist for much longer. Need to see results.

Also, 2 assists for Streit and a putrid PP with him still in the fold is not making me happy...

It's actually pretty impressive how quickly this team's identity swapped. Special team studs, terrible goaltending/defense, terrible ES play, stellar forwards to awful special teams, great goaltending, good defense, good ES play and terrible forwards. Too bad the results aren't as impressive as the switch.

Ugh... pretty sad that tickets are as low as $24 on Stubhub for tonight's game. I know its the day of the game, but for a match-up against the Pens, it just doesn't seem right.

What is even more not right is Flyers having the nerve to raise ticket prices in the first place after last season's debacle. If they miss it again next season I can't see them raising them again with a straight face

Holy ****. I can't remember the last time I've seen tickets so cheap to a Flyers v Pens game.

I can since ticket prices rarely have anything to do with the product on the ice. Look at Toronto. They had the highest ticket prices in the league for most of their decade of shame.

Yeah what am I thinking..they'll sign 3 older vets and Snider will proclaim that his optimism is through the stratosphere for the upcoming season....get your tickets while they are hot but the team is not...
