Polak hits Kruger with a hit along the boards. right away Bollig comes in and a fight happens between Polak and Bollig and during that play Shaw gets Jackman to get a penalty.. why cant this happen with the Rangers... Blackhawks on the PP... good job by Shaw.. i wish NYR had a kid like this..

while on the PP Shaw negates the PP with a roughing call... Oshie drew that one...

It was. Even if it was just a reactionary thing, it was classless to say.

The Av's announcers are one of my least favorites ones in the NHL. I can't stand them, although that has little to do with what they said tonight.

But I thought the Blackhawks were "soft"? That's all I heard around here all day. If they are soft then what the hell are we?

There is absolutely 0 respect amongst players for these dangerous hits to occur on a regular basis. Disgusting.

Is it just me or have a lot more of these type of hits occurred this year? Also the Av's announcers are ass-hats. Same guys as the Roy fight? lol. Edit: Whoa 1998 was 15 years ago. Yikes.

We're 4th in an 8-team division? That's hilarious.

Dallas beats San Jose in a shootout.

And the Avalanche finally lose to the Red Wings.

Compared to when? I love the notion that players use to respect each other...absolute nonsense and interviews from players from the 70s will confirm that they would kill each other if had the opportunity. On-ice "respect" is no different, and not the issue at all.

The speed of today's game is night and day. Couple that with how strong and large players are, and a smaller reaction time, it's pinball on ice (except the 'balls' are 6'3 225lbs).

If we need to trade out all our players and fire the coach, what do they have to do?

Just when you think the Avs play by play can't get any worse. This moron just runs his mouth about kronwall without a care in the world that the guy might have a broken neck or something.

Thank god the color guy at least had the deceny to call it like it is.

on the main boards a few Devils fans seriously claimed they have one of the best core of defense prospects in the NHL. I'm still laughing. I seriously can't think of a more full-of-themselves fanbase in the NHL.

It's the same on that site reddit. "Larsson and Merrill will lead them to glory, brah! Even though they've only won a dozen games since last year, they aren't as bad as their record indicates. The team will be humming by the deadline. Praise be to the one LouLams."

Those are probably the same posters who thought that their team improved this summer and would compete this year.

“It’s not my position to be in this. I’m not 21 years old waiting for somebody to get hurt or somebody to play bad. It’s not in my system,” Erat said. “In my 12 years I’ve never played less than 10 minutes. It’s kind of new for me. I have to stay in shape in case something happens, but we’ll see what’s going to happen.“

Each time he’s been asked about Erat’s ice time, Coach Adam Oates cites the difficulty in finding playing time for all of Washington’s forwards. There’s been trouble in determining where Erat fits now that Brooks Laich, who was injured last year at the trade deadline, is healthy.

Erat is a good player and that organization moved a former top-10 pick in Forsberg for him who is already in the NHL.

The Blackhawks are not a soft team, the quantity of hits and penalty minutes don't tell the whole story. I wouldn't consider any team that wins a cup to be soft. The playoffs are a war of attrition and the players have to possess a level of mental and physical toughness to succeed. They showed a lot of resiliency against Detroit coming back from a 3-1 deficit. The players also routinely stick up for each other - Bollig also went after Torres when he head-shotted Hossa.

This.

There's more to being a tough team than throwing hits or being big.
