He needs to get confidence.

Agreed, except I would say that is true of our entire team.

It's impossible to point the finger at a few players on our team as being the issue when the entire team's confidence is down the crapper.

Not really true for most of the D and Mason. Mason has been lights out and most of the D has been average enough to win games. Meanwhile we're still averaging one goal a game (yet miraculously haven't been shut out, go figure).

I'm tired of hearing *****ing about the refs simply because it's something the Flyers created themselves. They don't get the benefit of the doubt from the refs because for the better part of the last two years the Flyers have been one of the laziest skating and dumb-penalty taking teams in the league. These aren't all new refs with instructions to "screw over the Flyers". They are refs who are biased because they've watched the Flyers take dumb penalties from being caught out of position or beat.

It's the same reason why Rinaldo (even thoug he does do stupid penalties) gets called more than he should... because he built up that reputation from his debut and if a Ref looks at a play (or the reaction of the opposing player) and is on the fence whether it is a penalty or not the fact that it's Rinaldo puts it over the top into the 'call a penalty' checkbox in their head.

That same type of thing applies to the team. Refs remember (and hell they see it still this year) the Flyers hooking a guy who's about to get past them or interfering with a guy before he can get past them. This team has taken a lot of lazy penalties, continues to take lazy penalties, and will continue to be called for borderline or non-existent penalties that look like another 'typical Flyers lazy penalty' to a ref.

There is no agenda against them.

Yea there has been some serious mismanagement. Gus sits out forever and comes in as our best dman. Raffle as our best fwd. Laughton is first star 4/5 games since being back and player of the week. I understand him staying down for contract reasons but still. I'd rather have kids in there over coburn Grossmann. Mez I think should be up getting playing time. Schenn should be getting FAR more playing time.

You're right. Too many guys look like they're terrified of making a mistake. There's a lot of hesitancy. For instance, Simmonds skating into the Pens zone and completely freezing up until the puck is removed from him.

Nah... they are really good at being just bad enough to lose, but give hope each game for extended periods of time.

Flyers need 60min to score 2goals , Taylor Hall only need 8 seconds

Couturier is going to be a good player for this team, and is going to become quite impactful in a year or so.
Really? I don't like to bash him at all but come your kidding yourself if you think he's been great. He lost a battle to Mallon or Crosby by not fighting against the board a that I believe led to a goal, made countless bad passes(especially on the power play when no one was defending him!) and couldn't hit Read who was three feet in front of him.

Routinely generates scoring chances but has two assists in 8 games.

The amazing part of this all, aside from all the obvious amazingness of the terrible, is that there's at least three other team just as bad as us. Edmonton, NJ, Buffalol. Hell, NJ still doesn't even have a win. You would think they would get one by sheer luck like we did.

Exactly. I don't get where that came from either. Like you said, he needs confidence but so does the entire team

Compared to the rest of the team, he's been pretty damned good. He's been great defensively and has been excellent at getting the puck up the ice and helping his line keep it in the zone. But they aren't generating quality opportunities, and there are times where he's very passive.

I didn't see this game but before today I know Couturier has been one of our better players.

I may petition the league for this name change. Buffalol with their Buffaslug jerseys.

These losses are a lot less annoying if you just watch the highlights afterward. I made the mistake of trying to keep watching every game in 06-07 and I won't do that again. This team won't be in the playoffs till 2015 at the earliest and once you accept that it becomes a lot easier.

A new GM with a long term plan is required and hopefully he'll be in place by Monday.

Maybe Couts is just going to be a late bloomer. Kind of like JVR. He really does seem like a totally different player once he crosses the oppositions blue line. He's got 2/3 of the game down.

I think I only missed 1 or 2 games that season... it just became funny.

He is still 20. He's several season away from his prime.
