Despite his mistake, he's the third best Canadian goalie right now. He's pretty good and the Leafs are lucky to have him.

Can't believe the way we eat our own in this fan base. Price is the best Canadian goalie right now and has proven his abilities in the past as he won a wjc and multiple all star nods. The rest of the nhl knows he is the best but cause habs fans eat their own so much there is a small doubt there.
Last year he was excellent till the injuries piled up and especially the emelin injury ruined our defence in front of price

I have no doubt in my mind price will b the #1 goalie for Canada and will kick butt with that defence.

I'd rather he not make it, and get a rest/not get hurt. But I guess that's catch-22, if he didn't make it, that would mean Bad Things for us as well. Maybe he could be awesome for us, then just decline the Team Canada starter job when it's offered to him? Please?

Not quite sure a rest isn't better for him. Why risk the injury?

Well, I guess the option I overlooked would be for him to play fantastic for us, but still somehow get overlooked by the selection committee and be left off the team anyway. That seems pretty unlikely. So I will just have to hope he politely declines the invitation, or fakes the flu or a minor injury or something to get out of it. Habs >>>>>> Team Canada. I don't care about the Olympics, would rather have our players just not participate.

Why? His performance against the Bruins has been repeated many times since then. The Canuckleheads would trade Luongo for Price in a heartbeat.

There's still a couple of months until the Olympics. He has to continue to play well from now until then.

Wow, oh my god. You guys do know it's a once in a lifetime opportunity for Carey? So because you don't care about the Olympics he should say no, get some rest and watch Canada win the gold medal?

Instead of this mentality, let's wish him the best and let's hope he's gonna win the gold medal because this opportunity doesn't come very often. You don't like to see our best players with their national team?

What I think you might also fear is for him to lay an egg on the international stage and consequently screw up his confidence for good when he's back.

I think he's a lot stronger than people give him credit for.

Price's audition for Sochi begins in January, when the schedule gets tough. Chicago, Boston, Detroit Leafs, Pittsburgh, all within a couple weeks . That's showtime for Price.

Are you Canadian??

Price is, and I know he and most other Canadians care LOTSSS about winning gold. It's right up there with a Stanley Cup imo. In Russia too? Every NHLer would kill for that opportunity.

First of all, unless he gets injured, he's a lock for one of the spots. Secondly, the motivation that comes with wanting to prove himself worthy of the #1 job for Team Canada can't be underestimated, it's good for team Canada and it's good for the Habs.

This could be the pivotal point of his career, the defining moment where Carey Price finally takes the next step and becomes the elite, consistent goaltender we all know he can be.

Anyway, so far, he's been looking great this season and I hope he keeps it up.

Isn't the team usually picked in December? Or are you assuming he's basically a lock at this point and this would be to get the starter's job?

Oh I think it's safe to say he's on the team, it's just pecking order now.
Price is making headway so far with Waite, I'd hate to see that washed away with a bad Olympic outing. I'd prefer Luongo shoulder this burden.

I can only imagine the outburst from many Canadians (FANS/MEDIA/ETC) if Carey Price were to decline a roster spot on team Canada.

I'm pretty confident in saying, Carey Price wants this. Winning gold is huge. and it's not like the Stanley Cup, where you have a chance every year. This happens every 4 years, who knows what will happen in 4.
I'd much rather he play in the Olympics, gain ALOT of experience and learn how to handle pressure..

I definitely agree with this much (don't care much who the 3rd goalie is). Price is the best Canadian-born NHL goalie right now, and he might be the best NHL goalie period.

Luongo has the experience of winning the Gold medal before, and he's still a decent No. 1 goalie, so I think he's a good insurance policy as 1B.
