Not the last game, I've seen all kinds of strange lines. His salary is lower than it should have been, peanuts compared to what he left in the KHL. Zucc has definitely trade value, I doubt we'll see him on waivers. But he probably stays here, 6 games on the downside is nothing. Fire the coach, I dont like him.

IMO if Zucc gets waived before Pouliot, there's been a terrible injustice. And Pouliot's still on the squad so I can't see this happening anytime soon, especially with the injuries this team has already.

Oh you guyse.

Zucc = Anonymus start to season = Worthless player = Get off this team.

Patience on this board is a somewhat rare commodity.

Somehow I suspect he'll do better if he's not on a line with Pouliot who is not even playing anonymus, he's downright bad, and he's not helping his line.

Zuccarello needs to play point on the powerplay and a moving wing. He does not need to play the way AV is playing him, against the board. That's why he's on his ass all the time. When AV took over, I was hoping Zucc would have it easier. Torts also liked to play him after telling everyone "PLAY IT UP THE BOARDS AND DUMP IT IN". It's the same story this year, and it doesn't suit Zuccarello at all.

Look at all the west coast teams. Look how they are playing the puck out of their own zone. Through the middle. Quick accurate passes from one side to the other. Rangers keep playing it around the boards and into Zuccarello who's there at the boards with a 6"2' player on his ass. What's he going to do? Only thing he can do is touch it to avvoid icing, or try and play it and go on his ass. Even then, when he does manage to play it, Pouliot gets it and instantly gives it away again.

Let Zuccarello be Zuccarello. Even Pouliot is the type of player who does not at all like the style of play that line has been playing. Board play is a no-no. Let them use their skill with the puck and let them have some room to make the plays.

The team tried to open it up the first few games. Zuccarello was non-existent then too, and they proceeded to get destroyed.

I don't agree with what you're saying in the least -- I just don't think Zuccarello is good enough to be a consistent NHL talent. But even more importantly, the coach is going to do whats good for the team, not whats good for Mats Zuccarello.

You know what would be the perfect way to start playing the type of hockey you endorse? Get players that are better than Zuccarello.

What he could have made in the KHL isn't relevant. He'd be a bigger fish in a smaller pond there. KHL teams would pay for his name as much as his talent. In the NHL, he's just another player. His popularity in Norway/Europe has no bearing on how much he makes. 1.15 mil is more than fair for a player who has never played a full season in the NHL.

That being said, I don't understand why people are so down on Zucc. Everyone loved the Pouliot-Brass-Zucc line in the pre-season. Zucc hasn't scored, but he's played well enough in other areas of the game. We're only 6 games into the season and the entire team has been awful in most of them, so for now I'm willing to give Zucc a pass on the scoring. Hopefully he can get it going soon.

In any case, this whole discussion is kind of moot. Nash is out for who knows how long. Cally is going to miss up to a month. Hagelin is still a week and a half away. I don't see Zucc being waived any time soon.

Pretty sure he was of the better Rangers forwards game 1 and 2. Then team went into oblivion and he hasnt turned it around yet, like some have.

I think the next two week determine Zucc's fate. With Nash, Cally, Hags still out of the lineup he should and will get top 6 minutes and play on the PP.
Unless we see something he has never done before (Produce consistently) I don't see him being around that much longer.

I'd rather have a kid or even a guy like Powe "not produce" than a player who is limited in so many areas like Zucc.

If he goes on waivers someone will take him. His shootout prowess alone might be enough to get a team fighting for playoff spot to bite.

Didn't he get a EA NHL 14 Player To Watch spotlight or something on MSG game #2 because of his performance game 1?

I've stopped listening to Bleed Ranger Blue anyways. I think 99% of his posts are just negative and depressing. He can't seem to just enjoy himself. He has to hate on someone and something at all times. 2 bad games (I don't count the Blues game as "bad" per se) and suddenly it's like his precious rangers is on the gallows and the player who happens to be in his crosshair is the executioner.

Negative and depressing. Right.

Even if that were true, I'd take that over covering my eyes and whistlin' dixie about a player who has stunk. I get why people like Zuccarello - hes small, hes an underdog, yada yada yada.

Hasn't changed the fact hes stunk this year so far.

That goes for the entire team. Only two players have scored in 360 minutes of hockey, Cally and Richards. Oh and Dorsett had one. Maybe there's something wrong with the coach

So because the team has been bad, that somehow gives Zuccarello a pass?

Asham, Powe, Biron cleared, I think Zucc would. Pyatt and Pouliot might just as well.

Do you watch the games? He played with Stepan in the last game. He has played with other offensive players such as Brassard. In the Caps game,AV put Zuccarello on the 4 on 4 and then he got caught on the ice when the Caps player(Wilson) came out of the box and it was their PP. He needed up getting 55 seconds of PK time. Zuccarello is among of the top Rangers forwards in minutes. He was third in minutes among the forwards heading into the Caps game. Does he have a point in six games so far? Zuccarello has gotten a longer leash than the others have received. Don't blame the coach.

While this is a thread about zucc, wouldn't it make more sense to want to get rid of players who have a actually caused goals in our own net, more than once.

Dorsett, Pyatt and Pouliot as honorary mentions of screwing the team over. Dorsett in particular.

Instead of the guy that is struggling compared to what he did last year. And afaik last years performance was enough to warrant the man a roster spot.

Yes, actually.
Zuccarello isn't the Rangers.
Pouliot isn't the Rangers.
Boyle isn't the rangers.
Pyatt isn't the Rangers.
Biron isn't the rangers.
Del Zotto isn't the Rangers.
Brassard isn't the Rangers.
Callahan isn't the Rangers.
Dorset isn't the Rangers.
Fast isn't the Rangers.
Miller isn't the Rangers.
The Moores isn't the Rangers.
Richards isn't the Rangers.
Stepan isn't the Rangers.
Girardi isn't the Rangers.
Falk isn't the Rangers.
Stralman isn't the Rangers.
Staal isn't the Rangers.
Mcdonagh isn't the Rangers.

Together they are the Rangers.

So to just assign all the blame on one or a few of these players is counter-productive. We are 5 games in. We've won two with great play, lost two with terrible play all around, and lost one with terrible play from a few players.

Everyone, with the exception of a few, has had bad games this season. Zuccarello had 2 good games, 2 okay game, and 2 terrible games. But this goes for most of the players on the team. Pouliot has had 1 good game, and 5 terrible games. Richards has had 3 great games.

Last year in a shortened season, the rangers had a road record of 10–12–2. Now, with a new coach and a LOOOOONG road stretch, 2-4-0 isn't terrible. It's bad, but not damning. Yes, there were two completely and utterly embarrasing games, but people are acting like the team is on the edge of the cliff, about to become a joke in the league. They are not.

Just chill the f out. Calm down and carry on. If we get a 2-7-0 road stint, then yes you can start freaking out. But please, just stop it already. What's really embarrassing is how the fans react when the team plays badly. Instead of support, it's hate and loathing.

Are you implying that Zuccarello does anything at all to help the cause on the defensive side of the puck?

Uh, no. Someone else playing bad goes not give Zuccarello a pass. It just means that other player is playing lousy right now too.

The fact is all we've heard is Zuccarlello is an offensive player and a pp specialist. He has after all averaged about .5 points a game. He's being counted on to provide offense. And he's not.

If you want to be one of those fans who judge a team by their record, fine. I'll chose to watch the the team play and judge them that way. And right now, the team does not play hard every game. They are very soft. And they are going to have a lot of problems scoring.

Well, he was on a penalty kill and had 2 blocks and a clear. So yes.
He's at -2, when forwards like Stepan is at -7, Callahan at -6 and Pyatt at -6. So maybe it's Stepan and Callahan who's bad at defense?

Have you not been watching the games? Did you throw your cable box out after the Sharks game? Zucarello is working harder than any of the other forwards on defense. He skates hardest back, he throws himself in front of the puck to block (albeit at one point pretty awkard looking). He might have a size disadvantage, but continuing with the "liability on the defense" bs that's been thrown around, you can stop. The stats and his play has proven otherwise, beyond a doubt.
