Went to the game last night he still does play the distruber role just not as much. He was easily the best player on the ice.

I think this weekend is the start for most teams.

Tonight:
Quinnipiac(Jones, Jones) vs. UMass-Lowell(Campbell)
Denver(LaLeggia) vs. Alaska
NoDak(Simpson) vs. Miami

Saturday:
Denver vs Alaska-Anchorage
Quinnipiac vs. UMass-Lowell
NoDak vs. Miami

Tuesday:
Quinnipiac vs. Bentley

Cornell(McCarron) doesn't start their season until next week.

Moroz tallies just inside of 3 minutes in the 1st period. 10th goal in 11 games.

Chase or Moroz... who's the Oilers best WHL prospect? I suppose you could answer Khaira as well, but Chase and Moroz are delivering consistent early results.

From Nick Patterson's Live Silvertips Blog...

http://www.heraldnet.com/article/201...ett-at-Spokane

Everett suffered a blow before the game started as center Jujhar Khaira did not make the trip. Khaira is out with what Travis described as an upper-body injury. Khaira isn't listed on the injury report, and he participated in practice yesterday, though on a limited basis. Travis said he probably won't be playing in any of this weekend's three games. Not having Khaira will be an issue for the PP.

We claimed him off waivers from some team last season (i think philly*?) because he was a huge monster goalie and young enough to go to OKC if we claimed him. The flyers were buying him out so he could go back to europe because he was in the ECHL. He played a couple games for OKC and we have his rights now even though he is back in Europe.

Rough night for the NCAA guys last night.

Connor Jones was the only one to find the scoresheet with 2 assists and he isn't even officially an Oilers prospect. :\

I wonder if this is lingering from the injury he had in training camp?

Nice to see Moroz being consistent. We desperately need a player like him in the NHL roster.

Chase IMO. He's a year younger and scoring more.

Wild one in SSM, 8-7, Nurse is -3 with 1 assist. Jared McCann (ranked mid first round for 2014) with 4 assists.

Don't worry about the -3 for Nurse. The Soo played their rookie backup goalie and he was REALLY bad. There wasn't much any d could do when Halverson couldn't stop a beach ball most of the night.

McCann? He is the kid I hope the Oil pick. He is as perfect as it gets for a solid 2C going forward. He is so good playing both ways.

I'll qualify this by mentioning that I absolutely love Chase, rivals Nurse for my favorite pick of last draft. But Moroz has put himself back on the prospect map and when I project these players, I feel Moroz has a stronger chance of being effective higher in the lineup. Its unlikely to think we have a Mini Lucic or a Simmonds-Lite, but man if he could crack a Top-6 role, or even turn into a Chris Neil, that'd be enjoyable.

Chase I hope turns into Andrew Shaw. Then again, different leagues aside, early results in the WHL has Chase blowing anything Shaw did in the OHL out of the water. Perhaps in 5 years Andrew Shaw will wish he was Greg Chase.

And since you brought him up, I got my eye on Jared McCann as well. What a laser of a wrist shot this guy has. Reports have him as a two-way player, good skater, good on the forecheck, and a whisper of an edge. I'd be please to draft the guy.

Moroz, Ewanyk, Kessy, Chase, Pitlick (not a fighter but a big hitter) these are the guys that we need to pan out to better balance our team. In a perfect world in 2 years or so:

Moroz-Gordon-Chase
Gazdic/Kessy-Ewanyk-Pitlick/Kessy

Lots of physicality and some grinding skill mixed in. That is the type of bottom 6 we need. Kessy and Chase with the borderline hits when d-bags hit our guys and then pretty well all of them except for Gordon, Chase and Pitlick drop the mitts.

I'll be honest - I saw nothing with the Moroz pick - was unimpressed as late as the most recent rookie camp with what he brought.

But numbers don't lie - the kid is producing at an alarming rate. If he could become a 40-50 goal scorer here in his final year he's got to get some attention heading into next year. He's already got NHL size with that frame.

I don't really remember him being a Lucic-type in his ability to handle the puck and make NHL-level passes. That's the one unique thing that Lucic brings with his game, that Penner-like ability to handle the puck. Usually guys as meaty, physical, and strong as Lucic tend to be complete meatheads with the puck as well (Jacques, Stortini, Bernier, etc).

Will be interesting to watch. Haven't checked out any EOK games yet this year, but will look for them on TV to check up on Moroz.

Chase with an assist, +2 on a 6-3 win (Jake Virtanen with a hat trick!). Moroz with a goal. Nurse with an assist and -2 against Scott Laughton and the Oshawa Generals.

blues fan here. I just wanted to say I work with the miami redhawks and I saw your prospect Dillon Simpson play this past weekend, and all i gotta say is dam.

You guys may have a nice 4th round steal on ur hands. He's big, strong, yet smooth skating, very smart with and without the puck and looks like a dominant defensemen, that controls the play around, alot like pronger did in a sense. I think he could be a big part of the oilers moving forward

Crazy thing with Moroz is he's scoring some very nice soft handed goals. The one he got last night was just credited to him because he was the last OK to touch the puck before an own goal - but the one from the night before against Kootenay was a beauty. Received a pass coming into the slot, on his stick off his stick into the roof of the net. From his backhand... it was Eberle-esque
