To Montreal: Forsberg

To Nashville: Desharnais, Briere

We're not paying Briere $4mil/year to score empty netters... or $3.5mil to Desharnais to produce almost nothing.. those types of salaries are not for third/fourth liners

Nashville is an offensively challenged team. Putting Desharnais and Briere (Who both have significant experience as first liners) on their first line would improve the team. For Montreal, our roster will become salary clean and have Forsberg centering third line.

Our roster would then look like this (assuming Pacioretty is still injured):

Galchenyuk - Eller - Gallagher
Bourque - Plekanec - Gionta
Prust - Forsberg - Bournival
Moen - White - Parros
Thomas

I'm not sure trading two undersized, offensively challenged forwards to an offensively challenged team would ever work out. You go from calling them 3rd/4th liners to suggesting they would help out Nashville on their first line. That doesn't compute.

If I am David Poile I release a rather large guffaw as I hang up the phone with much conviction, and hold onto my young blue chipper. Not to mention the Preds can't exactly take on almost $7M in salary and fit under the cap.

He's still the GM that has been allowing his coach to stay without any rings.

Plus, DD and Briere are not producing right now because they're in 3rd and 4th lines. If they get the chance to play on a first line full time, they could become consistent...

Tell me, besides the fact that this trade could never happened due to the salary cap, would you make this trade if you are David Poile?

Do you really trade your young blue chipper for two underachieving, overpaid & regressing players?

No GM in their right mind would acquire two players that need to be severely sheltered, especially in exchange for such a high end young talent.

I doubt Poile wants to pay it forward.

I'm sure he's quite content with the fleecing he pulled off.

You do realize Forsberg was slipped to 9th or 11th pick in the draft when he was projected as a 3rd? and Washington traded him for just ERAT? that means there were 8 to 10 other teams that foresaw Forsberg being overrated at the draft and Washington later found out that they screwed up one of their 1st picks in the 1st round.

Desharnais for Forsberg straight up is questionable, since DD has had average first-line numbers couple years ago. Adding Briere who becomes x2 during playoffs doesn't hurt. Poile would have to be crazy not to accept this, its just Berg that wouldn't do it since he likes Desharnais and signed Briere to two years.

Also Poile kept the same coach since the start of the franchise.. just to have that record I presume. however, with this trade + coaching change + trading Shea Weber would get them back in shape again. Just a suggestion ya know.

2-2 tie, NHL stops the game after 240 shoot-out attempts.

Nashville liked what they saw and traded for the player. They obviously value him highly enough to target him. How he slipped in the draft is completely irrelevant.

Players slip in the draft all the time.

.... Seriously? A blue chipper for a guy who struggles even with sheltered minutes. Think about it.
Desharnais has little to no trade value as it stands, but suddenly he can fetch Forsberg?

Is this bizzaro world?

If you were Poile, would you honestly accept this trade? Let's say the salary cap suddenly disappeared and this trade would be legal, would you actually do it? Be honest.

Lol @ Shea Weber's contract.

Just Lol and a big ouch.

We can afford like 3 Subbans with that yearly cap. haha and Weber has like what, 3 points as top line D.

Talk about over-rated. I've always been saying since the beginning, ya know, when Philly gave the offer sheet, that Preds should let him go since Suter already left (meaning a rebuilding phase was imminent). four 1st round picks would've been perfect... especially since Philly is JUST going into a rebuilding phase. It would've been a steal of the NHL history but Nashville just can't see that nor can they see that their coach is not a fit in their organization.

Weber has lost his mojo, not sure what has happened, I think he really wants out of Nashville, but the guy has alot of talent, but the contract is for the birds...

You know, if you guys keep setting the bar so high, eventually we'll be desensitized to your amazing game threads.

I would suggest toning it down a notch. Maybe a hand drawn stick figure GDT would lower the bar enough to make sure everyone appreciates the hard work.
